You can the best person possible, the kindest, most charitable, and loving person humanly possible, and yet that is not enough to enter Heaven.
Every religion has a different method, but in Christianity, Lord Jesus Christ says John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
What he means is that one can only accept Jesus as the Christ and their lord and savior if they want to come to the father. But the Father is in Heaven.

An apostle of Jesus, Saint James says in the second chapter of his epistle (his letter), "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only."
What he means is that as a Christian, merely believing is not enough to enter the Kingdom of God.
You can't only be a good person, and you can't only believe. You need both.

You can't have one and not the other, you need both.
Jesus says the give to the poor... well, I am the poor. I live in near poverty have never been able to get a job.
But I'm not exempt. We must do what we can to appease God.

Even the smallest task can be done for God.
