I've seen plenty of people on here thinking that it's some sort of
competition to have the most “niche” interests out of everyone, and then
start crying when someone else likes something that's popular. If this
reminds you of yourself, then you should really get off of the internet
for once and look into a mirror for a good while.
It's
so funny to me that people will love something, but the moment it
starts getting attention, they do a complete 180 and start acting like
they never loved it. Please realize that having a different opinion than
the masses does not make you cool.
I used
to be like this. Whenever someone asked me for a top 10 of something,
I'd try my best to show them things that they've probably never heard
of, even if I liked the popular thing more. I'd also think that I was a
better human being than someone just because I liked something that's a
bit more on the niche side. Luckily, I am not 14 years old anymore, have
matured a teeny tiny bit, and realized that being like this makes you
very unlikeable.
I am not saying that you
aren't allowed to prefer the lesser known thing over the well known
thing. What I am saying is that you shouldn't try shoving them down
everyone's throats and basically just insulting anyone that doesn't
share the same interests as you. Trust me when I say this: no one is
going to think you're cool for thinking that metástasis is better than
breaking bad or listening to an artist with 2k monthly listeners instead
of a famous artist.
