In the first update, I was in the Studio learning all the parts to the camera and how to put it together.
I have now learned that there are three different set-ups that they use on jobs. The set-up that I was learning in the Studio was normal yearbook photos. It's how to take photos of underclassmen. The second set-up is senior photos. This is when the boys and nb use the tux and the girls use the drape. ( They can choose tux or drape; We don't judge. ) I cannot remember if the lights are placed in the same way since I had observed them for too long.
However, I did observe the third set-up for longer since I enjoy working with the co-worker. ( For my memory, let's call her Archie. ) In this set-up, there will be the backgrounds, flooring, and the lights are placed differently.
Notes from Casuals on 20th September, 2024:
Light settings
-0.8 F the front one
0.0F the back one
The back one is on the brightest setting because the light is a 08400 / the silver one. Usually a higher setting one / the blue one is used. However, that one was burning and smoking so we did not use that one.
The front light gets moved depending on the angle of the model.
Random Hints
Toes always pointed towards the light
Nose in the red square of the camera when looking through
We are allowed to show them their pictures for senior photos ! :))
On my recent job, I have found out that everyone else in my hired group had gotten assigned a camera and equipment from my manager- and I still have not. I'm not quite sure why or if I have fallen behind than the level I'm supposed to be at or-? I had recently received an email from my manager thanking me for helping with set-up and prepping for the senior portraits. So perhaps nothing is wrong, and I'm just being strayed a different path from the rest of the group.
As I write this out, it is the 3rd of October. I am working as customer service to check seniors in and provide them with the access ID so that they may view and choose their photo later. I am comfortable with my position and know my lines relatively well. However, I am worried that having less consecutive experience on camera is going to allow me to forget what I had been taught weeks ago.
Hoping I get to join the group that will be taking photos of Pre-K. And, have jobs that are a bit closer to my location so that my car doesn't give out- but either way I know I need a new one soon bc it's almost 2 decades old and at 200 thousand miles. Perhaps, might start a high yield savings account for that.
