I just finished book 1 of seekers

TW: SPOILERS!!!!!!!

The first book is so depressing:( Kallik watched her Own biological mother die and her brother stray away into the fog as her mother got mauled alive and murdered by orcas because she tried swimming across to get to the place where the ice never melts, another thing is Nisa only had this happen because Kallik and Taqqiq weren’t strong enough to push through the current and get onto the next ice sleet by themselves, IT ALSO GETS WORSE🥰🥰 Once Kallik had met someone who could’ve been a motherly figure to her, they boarded on a plane and crashed then Nanuk died and left Kallik alone with nobody to help her, and Toklos mother had to abandon her own son out of shame, guilt, and grief after finding one of her cubs, tobi DEAD from a illness. Oka never meant to abandon her son, she was simply so ashamed of herself allowing her own cubs to suffer and starve she Felt like she had to leave Toklo to save him from the terror, even though she loved her cubs dearly. And in the second book, Toklo shows signs of fear of water which is a direct reference from the bear who tried murdering and drowning him and so that expierience left him with trauma as it shows he paddled wasting more energy then he should have, The same bear catcalled oka, Toklos mother. Oka was only driven by anger and sadness, she never wanted to leave him alone. She wasn’t evil. I haven’t read the second book completely so I don’t know what happens to Lusa yet.
