disgustingness of beauty culture

Every time I go online, I see nothing but people constantly picking at their own features, comparing themselves to other people. Has most of our society forgotten that we have our own facial features to be proud of? I had to actually think about how pathetic this whole worshipping of vanity is set as the norm, and to me it's just ridiculous. Online, people want to look the same. The same face, dress the same so you won't get judged. Expressing yourself, you often see people recording you without consent. its inhumane. What ever happened to creativity. It's so... mindless. They're drones.  WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!! WEAR SKINNY JEANSS JUST BECAUSE!! DONT FALL INTO WHATS POPULAR!!! BE YOUR OWN HUMAN BEING FOR GODS SAKE.

But maybe this insecurity of ugliness has always been within us and older generations. All I know now is that the beauty standards are far worse because of filters; editing. To me, those are just band aids on wounds that don't solve the real problem. Is insecurity timeless?
