My first entry

If one were to be sick of the way social media has evolved so far, why wouldn't it be logical to immediately jump to the first alternative when you learn about it? Am I suggesting that spacehey won't just eventually turn into another facebook? no, but at the very least one should try it before that were to happen, if anything to see if an alternative is actually possible, and try to support it.

So many good things in this world have disappeared simply because not enough people knew about it, not enough people used it, not enough people tried it.

We are living through one of the most transformative moments in human history and most haven't notice it yet. Human society is always on a ever lasting transformative moment, true, but some are more relevant than others, more meaningful, scarier.

Soon enough we will no longer have a single generation that remembers the world without the internet, the connectivity that brought with it, and the lack of privacy most take as the default setting. One year ago, Bitcoin was still nothing else but a hopeful bet for a world economy, today nations are seriously discussing about it.

The pandemic, economical crisis, the Chinese government trying to cease power over the world by all means possible, somehow 2021 feels like a textbook example on a turning point. Whether a good or a bad one that is for future generations to decide, ours is to be conscious about it.

Now, big changes never happen in a singular year, China took 50 years, the internet took roughly 20, Bitcoin 13, how many will spacehey take?

Am I too early to even suggest it? Definitely, but where some see nothing more than wishful thinking, others see possibility. I hope I am right as I hate the world modern social media has created. I want change, an alternative.

GOOD POINTS! BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE NETWORK EFFECT BARRIER! PEOPLE ARE DRAWN TO WHERE THE MOST PEOPLE ARE BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THE MOST CONTENT AND VALUE IS! AND IT'S EASIER TO FIND RARE THINGS YOU LOOK FOR! SO COMPETITORS DON'T HAVE A BIG CHANCE UNFORTUNATELY! BUT THE NETWORK EFFECT IS ALSO THE SAME REASON BITCOIN HASN'T BEEN OUTCOMPETED EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MANY THOUSANDS OF COMPETITORS!

I feel that is partially true. Indeed, the network effect barrier prevents people from going to a certain network simply because there are not enough people in it and therefore there is not enough valuable content on that network, but that is not necessarily a requirement for a network to succeed as there are instances where the usefulness of a network, despite the initial volume of users, creates a positive loop that keeps attracting more people. The internet is a good example, as in the beginning there were very few users, but despite that, the number of users grew exponentially simply because of the value the internet services gave to everyone. The internet didn't require the majority of communication users to become the most useful and malleable medium of communication.
