I'm 13 years old and i dont wanna grow up. When I ask adults, they say that their youth was the best years of their lives. That is, it was the peak of their lives and then (i.e. when they grew up) their lives started to decline. I enjoy the good memories I have now, but my heart is heavy at the thought that they will end and I will perhaps forget. There is even a name for this...
If it helps you feel any better, just remember that with new responsibilities also come new freedoms that you may have never had before and that a lot can happen between now and future years of your life.
Also, everyone's experience with getting older will be different. Some people may find their earliest years the most enjoyable while others may find their later years the most enjoyable instead. The best we can do is take each day as it comes.
I was once a 13 year old like you, but it took until just the past year of my life for things to really start looking up for me once more. I'm now an 18 year old freshman in college and I can say that college so far is going quite well for me and that I'm in a better mental state now than I was from 8th grade - most of high school (until things started turning around for the better during my senior year and was truly my only actually enjoyable year of high school).
same i don’t wanna grow up either bcs i know that the older i’m getting, the more our responsibilities, expectations and choices that define who we are is gonna be but idk we can’t do anything abt it because we can’t stop the future so we just have to learn to accept it. i guess it’s just a natural response for us as humans to be scared of the unknown

It pains me not to be able to change this. But you're right, maybe it's better for us. So be it.
