When I found that people and brands are still making flip phones I got so confused, I couldn't understand how they could work nowadays, even just using a phone a few years old doesn't work, so how phones that are 14, 15, 16, or even 18 year old work nowadays?? well the answer to that is... They don't LOL, if you actually buy a flip phone that was made 16 years ago most of it's functions wont work, so, how do people get flip phones that works? well it's easy... Japanese Flip phones!!!
It is know that in Japan, most of it's population are people elderly people, surpassing 30% of it's population meaning more than 36.25 million people who are older than 65, it also doesn't help that people aren't having kids. And you are probably asking yourself, what does this have to do with anything? the answer is: Old people don't know how to use new technology. Most old people wont have anyone younger to help them with the latest iPhone, making social media accounts, security while browsing the web, etc... So most of them go the easy route which is buying ''dumbphones''. Of course the market knows this, so it makes sense that they make flip phones that work in 2024!

Phone brands like Nokia have noticed a big boom again on their flip phones not from baby boomers, but from Gen Z, which took the mentioned brand by surprise! In 2023, dumbphone sales were projected to hit 2.8 million units.

thank you so much for this! i've been interested in flip phones for months now, but i always feel so overwhelmed with where to start. ^^
I think the most important thing when buying your first flip phone it's checking the 3/4G bands work in your country :)

I am not really sure, but I think that Samsung has newer model flip phones. I haven't really looked into them yet, but I am interested because sometimes I don't like having a normal smart phone. Do you happen to know if the Samsung ones are any good?

i have a freetel mode 1 retro 2 and its literally the best modern flip phone, it has a touch screen and even an NFC reader so you can have like google pay. its like a google phone but in flip phone style i found out about it on thsi reddit post it works in my country i can call and connect to all wifi and 4g real easy. everyone looks at my phones and immediately start asking questions. i have before launcher so it looks more minimalistic but it wasnt always that way, ive had it since march 2024 i think i got it as an early birthday gift for myself, if you have any questions about my phone please dont be shy to ask id love to help out anyone if they think this is the phone for them because im sure it is the one for me :33

My Aquos Sharp 601sh is coming on Friday!! I love Japanese flip phones so much (≧∇≦)ﾉ I've been wanting one for years but now that I finally got the money, my fav colour (green) is sold out everywhere because of how popular these phones are now
