it sounds like all the bittersweetness of growing up incased in one song, it feels like the last goodbye to the best years of your life, and the intense heartwrenching nostalgia that comes with it

Starman - David Bowie

this might be too much information, but this song played at my dad's funeral when i was 6 years old, and ever since then it's been special to me. it also reminds me of a character in my oc universe

Harness Your Hopes - Pavement

this one reminds me of the biggest cartoon crush i've ever had, and the best summer of my life so far. when i hear it i can still picture the tv playing superjail, cherry koolaid in my hand

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel

this song feels like a deep understanding, the notion that everything is meant to change, and being okay with that

Archaeopteryx - Lemon Demon

i too, am jealous of the people who got to live in a time before me, the only difference is i'm jealous of people and not birds. (seriously my two favorite bands were playing at the exact same time on my birthday the year before i was born! unfair x1000)

when i hear this one i think of resilience, like just waiting out a horrible situation and emerging fed up with it all, ready to make a change

Since I Saw Vienna - Wilbur

this reminds me of my childhood friend, and the fear of leaving anything behind. the whole album that this song is from is such a masterpiece in my opinion (though i don't support the actions of the creator)

Turn to Real Life - Shiny Toy Guns

i found this through an amy rose tribute with 2k views from over a decade ago, and i love it so much, there's a certain nostalgia to every song that makes it's way into my favorites, but this one feels like it represents the nostalgia i have for a time i wasn't a part of, echoes of joy that was felt long ago, and the hope that it will return

Tongue Tied - GroupLove

i've always wanted to go to parties and live out my teenage years to the fullest, this seems to be the closest i can ever get to replicating that feeling, i don't like crowds or loud music so i'll take what i can get to feel the joy of a party without the anxiety and fear of spiked drinks
