Bands/Musicians I've Seen Live

The Pixies (2023) - 7/10 They sounded just like they do on their records (with the exception of Pax Lenchantin's vocals instead of Kim Deal's), good show, but I feel like it lacked... I dunno, a certain energy somehow? Didn't seem like they genuinely enjoy playing shows anymore, y'know? Definitely glad I saw them once but probably won't repeat.

The Adolescents - 9/10, Circle Jerks - 10/10, and Descendents - 5/10 (2024) - The Adolescents were great but their set was so short unfortunately, I guess they were sort of supposed to be openers. Most of the crowd seemed to clearly not really know their songs except for Kids Of The Black Hole and Amoeba, felt kinda bad for them about that. IMO they should've gotten more stage time. The Circle Jerks were also great, Keith sounds exactly the same as he did in the 80's, I was pleasantly surprised. The energy was definitely there and they still seem passionate about the music. The Descendents put on a pretty good show as well but honestly I personally only like a few of their earlier, less poppy songs, so didn't know the majority of the set, was still fun though. If the Adolescents or Circle Jerks have a show back around where I live again I'll for sure be attending.

(The following 5 were at No Values festival, so they weren't full length sets with the exception of The Misfits)

Black Flag (2024) - 0/10 Sorry to those who are fans of Vallely's vocals this is just my personal opinion, but, well, there's no nice way to phrase this, they just really fuckin' sucked. I mean the instrumental aspect was on point but they just lack energy with Vallely. It just sorta felt like the songs were sung with absolutely no feeling and it didn't do the lyrics justice. Wish I would've had the opportunity to see them with Rollins still on vocals.

The Damned (2024)∞/10 Holy shit they were just absolutely incredible. Best show I've seen by far with the exception of Iggy Pop who was equally as incredible. I NEED to see them again, festival sets are too short. Dave still looks so great, must really be a vampire cause he does not look 67. The fact that their Australian tour is being billed at the final one scares me... like does that mean it's the beginning of the end of their touring days? I mean I get that they're in their late 60's/early 70's already and have to throw in the towel at some point, but you'd never be able to tell their age from their performance. Anyway I'm like 99% sure (the sunglasses made it a bit difficult to be 100% certain, but I've asked others if they agree based on my videos to make sure I'm not just being delusional, and the consensus was that he did)  Dave sang at me twice so that was the best day of my life. Made my year. So pleased I got to see the original lineup (my personal favorite lineup) together, they're just legendary.

Bad Religion (2024) - 2/10 I didn't actually want to see them, as I only like How Could Hell Be Any Worse? and Suffer but I knew I had to secure my spot for Iggy Pop and the Misfits who would later be at that stage. Only played like 2 songs from what I consider their good stuff, they were ok I guess.

Iggy Pop (2024)∞/10 Same tier as The Damned, fantastic performance. Love how he's not changed and he's still sticking to his signature shirtless shows despite his age and all. You can tell he still enjoys preforming, especially cause like he's already 77 and most likely has enough money to not do it anymore but still chooses to. Real musician. Also still sounded just like his records. He played not only his solo stuff but some Stooges songs as well which I was glad to hear. It was totally worth it to sit through Bad Religion then wait like an hour after for him to come on, that standing in the same spot. Disappointed to miss Steve Ignorant during that time, wish they'd scheduled it differently but no regrets.

The Misfits (2024) - 7/10 The crowd goes for like miles back and I'm in second row at this point, kind of in disbelief that I'm this close considering how large a crowd it was, but I guess that's the reward for standing at the same stage for hours, having to instantly swoop in and take any spot that opens before anyone else gets it. There were like 4 false starts and then they finally came on, opening with Death Comes Ripping. The crowd was absolutely packed together like sardines, but it was fine and no one really tried to push their way to steal any spots where I was except this one dude who I had to keep elbowing back but eventually a spot opened and after I'd been standing my ground for like 10 minutes he was just like "you go ahead". There were like 4 false starts and then they finally came on, opening with Death Comes Ripping. The crowd got even more squished together now, was hard to get any good recordings cause of this + the fact that I'm short so I hope my memory doesn't fail me any time soon. All the recordings I did get are terrible cause they have me yelling along in the background anyway :p. The energy was mostly, I feel, from the crowd, Danzig clearly didn't really want to be there, was just in it for the money, and made a few jabs at Jerry Only between songs. They still put on a really amazing show but I think the energy and desire to be there was lacking, but what was lacking was sort of made up for by the crowds energy. At the end, for the last few encore songs the dude in front of me let me have his spot on the barrier so shoutout to him, that was cool of him.

The Buzzcocks and Lovecrimes (2024) - 8/10 Lovecrimes were surprisingly pretty decent, as I don't typically like newer punk bands. Though, I must say the sound system sucked at the venue, couldn't make out a word of what the lyrics were. The Buzzcocks were great. Steve Diggle does a nice job on vocals but it's just not the same with Pete Shelley, y'know? Despite this they still put on a good show and have energy which I find to usually not be the case when a lead singer is lost or leaves the band, so good on them for maintaining that.

Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band (2024) - 10/10 Hearing some Beatles songs live was just so incredible, never thought I'd get to experience that. Ringo still sounds the same as in the 60's. Lotsa Toto, Men At Work, and Average White Guys songs were also played though which was alright, like I get that it's only fair that the other band members get to play songs from bands they were in too, but at the same time I feel like they should do separate tours... one for Ringo's solo stuff + Beatles stuff, one like how they're currently doing it, with Ringo's as well as everyone else's content. Just my two cents. Anyway holy shit seeing Matchbox and With A Little Help From My Friends especially was unbelievable. I do wish, however, that rather than play Octopus's Garden and Yellow Submarine, What Goes On, Don't Pass Me By, or Act Naturally would've been better options... never been too big a fan of Abbey Road or Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road is definitely overrated. Like Iggy Pop, he of course doesn't need the touring money anymore but still tours just to give fans that experience of seeing him live and for the sake of music which I find admirable. Oh and the fact that all profit from his signed stuff and other merch that he sells goes to The Lotus Foundation is great of him

Side notes: I know I keep repeating "energy" throughout this, but that's just kinda the word I always use when describing concerts, IDK, hope you get what I mean though. I've seen a few other musicians aside from what I've listed here, but they weren't ones I'd specifically wanted to see, got dragged along by someone else so didn't include them.

Next, as far as I know, will be Gang Of Four in April next year but I'm always keeping an eye out for shows near me
