A story i’ve been thinking of…. Some lady with broadway dreams who achieves them by making a deal with a wish granting tiger. It has a catch, though, because she gets saddled with a child (that is Her inner child personified— it looks like a star a little bit. Small and glowing and pure white) and if she lets it die, it’s all over. The aforementioned tiger hunts her, stalks her through crowds and haunts her every waking thought. It eats her alive, the way having too many eyes on you does, the way tigers do, and the way this one will if she fucks up. Understandably, because of this she is extremely stressed out, like always, and is a mega alcoholic. The way the story ends in my head is that she fails. Something Bad happens. she comes back to an empty house. no more child. It disappeared. And the tiger is waiting.
It’s all pretty grounded in reality, but the tiger and the child are Real. but they’re magic or whatever. And only she can see them. That is why people do not freak the fuck out about standing next to a gigantic goddamn tiger. The lady’s name is mary, i think. Like mary had a little lamb, lol. Just googled it and the name has a few meanings, one of them is “wished for a child” which is interesting.
it’s all very mature and Adult and clever, you see….. it’s about FAME. And its consumptive nature , predatory industry stuff, and the things you sacrifice for a spotlight when you start with nothing. i think it’s pretty cool. i like bojack horseman, by the way. i wasn’t inspired by it in this instance, but the view from halfway down is kind of the mood here.

Much better story than mine about, well umm ... huh how should I put this. A incredibly racist person starting a revolt in the early 60s in response to the collapse of Jim Crow. It gets worse to the point where I don't think it would be a good idea to speak about it on SpaceHey :/
I think that this is a good concept for a story. If I am being perfectly honest, I thought it was a childrens book story concept until you clarified.
Your story sounds very intense. It's unusual to hear about someone coming up with a story of that nature, which means you must have something interesting in mind. Dark topics are always interesting to me, but sometimes they get emotionally exhausting if they're too relentlessly dark. I'm curious to hear more about it if you feel like sharing!
I'm glad you like my concept. I've developed it further since I last posted. I was sitting on the bus to one of my classes the other day and was reminded of an Indian cartoon that was available to me on Netflix because of the region I lived in. It was episodic and covered old fables. One of the fables was about a man who found a genie that would grant him anything and have no limit to the amount of wishes, but would eat him if he couldn't keep it constantly occupied with new requests. The guy eventually resolved things by making a wish that was impossible to fulfill. I think it would be interesting if the tiger was similar to the genie in its nature-- Maybe my character's success comes from the tiger constantly feeding her lyrics, scripts, personality adjustments, things to say that would raise her status even higher, and if she couldn't keep up with it all, well... You know. That'd add a layer of despair, don't you think? That she's getting what she wanted, that nearly everyone adores her, but it's a version of her that isn't even real. She has real skill and talent, and she's forced to be a vessel for something else's, something that doesn't feel or even really understand what any of it means, only that it's successful.
I'm re-thinking the concept of her having to take care of a child. Right now I can't think of how to fit that in without overcomplicating things, but at the same time it's so interesting to imagine how she'd balance it all. I just have to think about it more.
Anyways, I'm really honored? thankful? amused? that you thought this was a children's story concept at first. I'm not sure what children story would dive into addiction but who knows? Maybe there are, and I'm just uncultured.
Thanks for the comment :]
