Being an ~☆Alt Kid☆~ at a rich kid school and why it makes my brain go BZZ

Being an alt kid at a rich kid school is so weird. On one note, it's like being an alt kid at any other school, but on the other note, there's not as many people there so you're known by everyone and either completely accepted, or talked about everyday. People at my school see my friends and go "EMO" when all they do is wear a dark shirt, or dark pants. They see me with a side swoop, studded belts, kandi, dark makeup, chains, tight black jeans, black nails, converse, and they say NOTHING! Except for the occasional "CuT mY lIfE iNtO pIeCeS! tHiS iS mY lAsT rEsOrT!" I get nothing. It makes me wonder how rich kids see emos. They're all preppy rich kids who have worn bland clothing all their life, so do they just see a person wearing somewhat dark clothing and think they're emo?

People at my school are so divided on alt clothing. I've had teachers call me emo, and teachers who also bond with me over the music I like and my clothing style. I've had kids at my school call me emo in the halls, talk about me on the bus, and start singing papa roach to me, but I've also had people come to me and say they like my style and they like my hair and makeup. I've had people who think they can tell me what to do and I'll comply just because I'm so quiet and don't raise my hand in class.

My friends at school. This is situationship. I have a few alt friends, and then i have friends that call themselves alt but wear preppy clothing 85% of the school year. And the friends that are alt, they don't have the side swoop, they don't have the belts, they don't have the things most alt kids have. But at least they listen to the music and have somewhat of the style. My friends that claim they like the same things as me will ask me a question about one of the most popular emo bands ever, and the answer will be so well known that you shouldn't even have to think about it if you actually like that band. But they're my friends, so I love them anyways. But they need to learn to be themselves and not give themselves labels that don't apply to them.

Yeah usually private schools or schools in well off areas have that problem. Tho I can't relate too much since we have uniforms and dresscode here in Turkey like a good chunk of countries schools do.

altho for the "that call themselves alt but wear preppy clothing 85% of the school year. And the friends that are alt, they don't have the side swoop, they don't have the belts, they don't have the things most alt kids have." is really dependent on the situation as they may have had trouble cause of it in the past or a different alt style that could possibly be similar to preppy or family things yk- (which tbh preppy has lost it's actual style over the years sadly).

but damn bro ı wish you all the patience with those people cause y'all are gonna be stuck with them for a good while now. You need it. I luckly graduated and don't gotta deal with people @ school for a while
