Straightening Curly Hair

So, my hair is naturally curly but i recently cut it really short after it got wayy too long (ik an angel lost his wings blah blah blah) but lately i've been watching a bunch of old linkin park and good charleotte concerts and they inspired my to start spiking my hair. its tough to do with the curls so ive been thinking of straightening it to get spikes like sharkboy lmao. lmk if its a good idea or nah
