It's been awhile since I last wrote a blog entry anywhere... I'm a little rusty~

I remember back in 2009, I had a Myspace account. I was 9 years old and my mom set it up for me xD I remember being amazed at how customizable it was. My profile had a Family Guy themed wallpaper and I believe that was it. No music, no other custom stuff... give me a break, I was 9. I don't remember anything that I posted on there or how often I used it, if at all. in 2010 my entire family switched over to Facebook and I followed them there but something about Myspace stuck with me. I remember when I was about 14 I tried to find that same level of customizability with FB and after a bit of searching I found a browser extension called "PageRage". It allowed you to create your own layouts for FB, the only downside was that if someone wanted to see your layout they needed to also have PageRage installed. I unfortunately didn't use it for very long because I couldn't convince my friends and family to get it too so I didn't really see a point in it. Shortly after that, Facebook forced the owners of PageRage to shut it down. So there I went for awhile with just boring old FB then boring old Twitter and boring old Instagram. The customizability of Myspace now felt so far away... like a distant dream. Then one day, less than a month ago, I was watching a video on Youtube, a video titled "Whatever Happened to Profile Customization?" by Youtuber randy moon (video linked below), and after talking about the glory days of Geocities and Myspace they brought up a little site called "Spacehey" that was trying to recreate the look and feel of old Myspace. I knew I had to find this site and create an account. so I wrote the name down in my notes to search for later. it took me a bit to get around to it, I'm glad I did, but when I 1st saw that layouts required HTML I was terrified. I didn't know the 1st thing about HTML coding but then I saw the layouts page and actually looked at the code. while I didn't have the expertise to make my own layout from scratch I could just customize someone else's. So I took KatzeKarkasse's "Aero Dark" layout (linked below) and customized the parameters. I 1st added my own artwork as my background. I made the glassy transparent parts opaque to look better with my background. Made the stripes in the interests bar black so that they blended in better (It looked too noisy with the stripes) and then when I thought I was finished I perused other people's layouts and then I saw someone with a spinny little disc behind their profile picture and knew I had to have it so I went back to the layouts and there it was, right on the 1st page: "cd jewel case pfp w/ spinning disc animation" by the user ✴𝖛𝖆𝖑𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖊✴ (link below) so I now just had to figure out how to add this pfp layout to "Aero Dark", should be easy enough. it took a bit of trial and error to figure out where all the pieces should go but after a bit I figured it out and then I wanted music on my profile so after some searching I found out that you could just add an embedded Youtube video and make it play in the background so that's what I did. After all that I knew I had finally found my place. I believe that this place will be my stomping grounds for the foreseeable future.
