I ranked this list of tone tags depending on frequency, usefulness, necessity, and if I would personally use them. This is just for fun as I wait for food, so here it goes!
Full list (made it tab-able so it doesn't forcibly take up the whole screen lol)
- /j (Joking) - Very common, very useful for people who take things literally, and have personally used it a bit. 9/10!
- /srs and /nsrs (Serious and Non-serious) - Also pretty common and useful, and one that I use more frequently than /j, if not the one I use most, mainly for the neutrality of it. 10/10, couldn't get any better.
- /gen (Genuine) - Not as common, but I can see this as being useful. I kind of see this (and many other tone tags) as similar to /srs and /nsrs, but with more tone and feeling to it, you know? Haven't used as much, however. 9/10.
- /hj (Half-joking) - I can see how this could've been made, but I just don't see much usage for it? or enough usage for it to get its own tag. In my opinion, it isn't very necessary, and I don't recall myself ever used this. 3/10.
- /pos, /neu, and /neg (Positive, Neutral, and Negative Connotation) - Pretty useful, but I don't see it being used much, which I could kind of see why in a casual Internet setting, but I feel like these are also very definitive of why tone tags were created in the first place, so bonus points, I gues. 8/10.
Edit: Food came, and I've something better to do. Will leave this list on an indefinite hold.
