Jake was born in 1993 to his parents, his older brother [Stephen, 1985] and older sister [Linda, 1987]. They grew up in a messy, strictly Christian household. Their parents should have divorced for everyone’s sake, but they stayed together due to their devout religion. Due to the tensions at home, their father would often take his anger out on his kids.

Stephen had known he was gay from a very young age. He confessed to his best friend and crush of 6 years when he was 17. Stephen had already struggled with his mental health a lot, knowing he was different than everyone else. He sucked at sports and school, barely having any friends. He liked music, but his family didn’t support his dreams of becoming a musician. His best friend turned him down and called him slurs before running home and telling his parents, who in turn told Stephen’s parents. Stephen didn’t know this and when he came home, he was verbally and physically assaulted by his father. This was the final straw. That night, july 3rd 2002, he ended up stealing his father’s shotgun and taking his life in the family treehouse where he’d hid from his family so many times before.

The next day, evening was approaching and 9 year old Jake went up to the treehouse to get a better view of the fireworks. That’s where he found Stephen, someone who he’d always looked up to and had been like a parent whenever their parents would kick them out or be generally awful. Right as Jake reached the top of the ladder, the first fireworks started going off, forever linking the sound of fireworks [and explosions tbh] to the sight of the bloodied corpse of his brother. The funeral was held and Stephen was given a modest grave in the nearby cemetery. Word had gotten out of his sexuality and his grave was often vandalized, leaving Linda and Jake to clean it up every time.

The moment Linda graduated high-school, she moved out. The then 12 year old Jake spent more time in Linda's small, shared apartment than he did at his parent's home. At 16, Jake got himself a rundown car after working odd jobs here and there and he started spending even less time with his parents, living out of his car a lot. Jake hasn't spoken to his parents for five years now (18-23). He cut them off when he moved out after high-school (and moved into his car/Linda's apartment). He currently lives with 3 roommates.

Jake has a smoking problem and does drugs when he's feeling at his lowest. He’s also struggled with self-harm for many years. He has no real purpose or goal in life except for one promise he and Linda made after Stephen's death. They would stay together until the end, it's what Stephen would have wanted. This promise is why Jake is still alive today. Why he’ll never cut all the way through. He may annoy Linda and leech off of her here and there, but he would die for her in a heartbeat.

He has feelings for a guy at his job, Noah. Because of Jake's upbringing [and the whole thing with Stephen], he struggles a lot with his sexuality. Yet he also feels like he should be expressive and proud of who he is to honour Stephen. He thinks Noah is straight (he's not hehe), and therefore feels even worse. He feels like he'd be "corrupting" Noah if Jake ever professed his feelings. Jake has always stared longingly at Noah, but beat himself up over it whenever he noticed he was staring for too long.

His bubbly and loud personality isn't fake, though is does act extra crazy often to compensate for how he feels inside. He often sleeps around with random girls and hookers, whenever Noah has been plaguing his mind for too long. He can't help but imagine Noah in the girl's place and always feels extremely guilty afterwards, to the point of throwing up sometimes.

Fun facts!

• He originally wore a light blue and purple fade shirt that said "FUCK OFF" on it. He still canonically has that shirt :3 
• He's my oldest OC!! in terms of creation, not age. Hes also the only (still existing) OC that is older than 5 years!!
