I think it worked
this character has just delivered - the DnD campaign I am in has been going honestly amazing, and this character may just be the most captivating yet of this iteration
she's currently a level 4 Cleric and honestly she REALLY punches above her weight in terms of fighting but that isn't nearly half of what actually attracts me to this character
her complexities, her mindset, how she got there, her backstory, her behaviors, her quirks..
they're all sublimely written and I am really feeling like celebrating with some pizza due to the fact I outdid myself
she isn't my old character but she's a good successor to honor her

I think she may be BBEG material for a future campaign if she actually lives
she has the potential to be nigh invincible against most opponents, and her inner-workings, personality - her backstory, reasoning.. it makes her CONFLICTING
sure she may be incredibly evil - but wouldn't you be? would you let the evil continue, seeing as it was all done within reason and performed with a long-term goal that is technically chaotic good?
she is the most complex character yet, the most broken - but an absolute hero in her own right
