i dont like writing stupid rants blogs that would be better off in bulletins but this thing is about the site as a whole
nothing about underage people or predators n all that
just havent you notice most users there are like bots made from one sample?
if you check new or online people there are users that have almost EVERYTHING the same, tastes/fandoms/layouts, even how they speak is literally copied
you can put 10 sph users in a room and im pretty sure at least 3 of them will be a copy of each other
those 'scenekids' (which I bet dont even know what the subculture actually is)(yes its mostly their problem on sph) are literal clones of each other from head to toe, maybe they only look different from each other IRL but online? online they look and act like 100+ accs from one person who cant do different personalities
ofc you can go and say "they didnt live through the era! they are trying to act like in the old internet!" okay but wasnt old internet about freedom and creativity? werent the same scenekids and other people in that time different if not in tastes then at least in personality? modern 'old web' kids just took one way to portray themselves online and dont even try to be something different and interesting (i understand its hard nowadays but it isnt that hard to put a bit of yourself in this image you made)
im not saying its bad. i just find it weird that spacehey looks like a storage of bots based off one or two persons from myspace n other websites. not everyone here is like that. but a lot of people are

upset that this is the truth. we really need to either a) keep kids off the site by pushing the age to like 15 or something bc there are 13 yr olds here??? or b) get people to start reporting bots and copy accounts.

no but actually this! if i get a friend req from someone who has that one scene layout (yk the most popular one, its probably the first layout u see when u open the layouts), picrew scene pfp n they type L1K3 TH1Z *all* the time, i probably wont accept. its not that theres anything wrong with that, absolutely no but theres just HUNDRED of those users and cuz i want to actually be friends, i want to actually get to know the person!!! even like the basic stuff, not anything deep or personal! iwant them to be themselves, i dont care abt profiles that are just clones of each others.. Not a scene kid but with the layout thing it sometimes just comes down to certain factors. I want to make my profile my own and need to make it perfect first go so I'll draw out what I want first then turn it into my profile, hence why it's still default right now. Maybe there are some others like me, and maybe there are some others who are perfectly content with the default layout, because it's good!
Though customization is one of this sites defining features, doesn't mean it has to be used

honestly i totally agree: a lot of new scene kids read as not really understanding the actual culture of the time, and although i'm not a scene person myself, i do think it has a lot to do with some sort of saturation (??) of a lot of alternative cultures? i mean back then, being alt really depended on the (underground) music, and now I think with the rise of these sort of "glamour" alt people who dress the part but don't act the part, younger kids have loss the message. being alt is about being risque, counterculture, finding your own style (although it may derive from an already existing style) and something about the tiktok-ization of alt culture is a little disappointing?
then again i can never blame a kid, usually those that really don't fit in (like at school/home) and want to find a community, would sort of join this movement. the typing quirks are sort of derived from old texting speech but i feel like come off closer to annoying. maybe they are fun to type but are really inconvenient for everyone else. the sort of uniform scene layouts seem like a parody or surface level understanding of what scene people liked back then. idk I'm not an expert.
the layout thing tho is because layout-making takes a bunch of coding knowledge that most of us don't have time to learn tho, but otherwise u have a point (β’βΏβ’)
yeah im dumb though lol.... :,) i've tried learning coding-like stuff in the past and i just can't understand it. if it works for u that's all cool tho!! ^.^

I kinda agree with the tiktok-ization part, I really hate how it works although some modern day scenekids are actually trying to check out the og music and culture (including myself I really liked scene since 2017 :3) unfortunately, you'd find posers or guys who just have profiles/social media saying they're scene when they don't know anything about the culture (note: I'm not a 100% a scenekid I'm just saying my opinion)(I'm sorry if is dosen't even relate to the comment tho)

yeah i love scene but ive also got a bit irritated at both the commercialisation of it (ppl focus more on brands than actual diy now) and the music and overall culture. it feels like a lot (but deffo not all) scene kids rn just wear invader zim merch and listen to barely human and call it a day. but i mean, more than that, ppl will listen to brokencyde and millionaires and say theyre scene too, like they r scene but scene music is also heavily based in emo, just with some more pop and crunk influences. id love for people to get into the slightly "edgier" music tbh

ahhh i'm glad we agree on this bc it drives me crazy. especially scene culture has just been because of the "look" rather than the culture. its so heavy on brands and whatnot when in reality most scene kids just wore what they could find around the house/collected/customized themselves in general. it was about collecting band shirts/merch from the concerts you went bc you really cared about the music, whereas now, it just feels like if you look the part your "scene". again, not scene myself, so I'm sure someone can disagree but yeah :,)

i do think you have a point. a lot of people now adopt whole ass lifestyles as just the aesthetic part. like emo and scene and punk are not just how you look, or what you listen to, it doesn't matter how counter or controversial your tastes or hobbies are, because they're more than what you consume (not as in "eat," as in "be a consumer of"), they're how you act!! i don't know what to say about the rest of this though, i actually haven't run into too many bots or weird gorey accounts which are two common things people complain about

I think the layout problem is that a lot of people donβt have the facilities to create their own, whether that be they struggle with html/css or donβt have a computer to write it on (i know you can do it on mobile but itβs easier to format on computer), otherwise yeah people need to get their own personalities honestly.
