malls

i am an american, and if you didn't know, malls in america are dying (unfortunately). i happen to really enjoy malls, and i am very sad to see them disappear. i like going there and just looking at things with my friends and walking around and talking. it's really fun and the atmosphere is great!! the vibes you get from going to a mall just can't be beat by online shopping, and that's why i propose this:

we make computers only accessible to people for work purposes

this may sound stupid or insane, but hear me out. our world has been plagued by the intergalactic computer network for quite some time now (i think over 60 years?) and it has been used for many good things. unfortunately, it has been also used for some kind of useless things or things that don't benefit society as much as the alternatives do. for example, chat rooms, online shopping, forums. these have all affected how people live today. the usage of chat rooms and forums have made people less likely to feel the need to communicate in real life, as it is all able to be done on the computer or on your cellphone. as for online shopping, it has also eliminated the need to go outside and actually utilize the real world. Hence, malls are dying and everything sux.

this rant meant nothing

I love the idea of malls, the whole walking around and looking at all the stores things, but tbh this is kinda fulfilled by also walking around a well built and busy urban area. You know, passing by storefronts and all that. I think building just better designed cities may be a good replacement for malls

i agree with that. like, if you've ever been in a less populated/poorer area with a mall, then it usually only has a handful of stores and sometimes they're not even good stores. the topic of well-designed cities can also spark up a completely different and thought provoking conversation on why we don't build many well-designed cities, if it's on purpose or not, if it further pushes the idea that online shopping is better, and more that i probably haven't thought of
