My Guitar Rundown

Here are all my guitars, they will all feature on my album next year, and at the shows I do surrounding that. I use .88mm Dunlop grip picks, Ernie Ball straps on my electric guitars and a Dunlop strap on my acoustic.

1. Blue

This is the guitar I've had the longest. I bought it in 2021, and I have modded it and played it a lot. Green Day fans will instantly recognise this as a replica of Billie Joe Armstrong's Blue. I have Fender single coil pickups in the neck and middle position and a Seymour Duncan SH4-JB in the bridge. Its wired up to the tone knob so I can choose how much sustain I want.

I have also fitted Guyker locking tuners, hardly ever goes out of tune, makes changing the strings a piece of cake. Talking of strings, I use Ernie Ball Classic Rock strings, tuned to Eb. This guitar has quite a few scrapes and dings, this has seen the most stage use of any of my guitars, its travelled the furthest, and just sounds really fucking cool. In the future Im going to upgrade the saddles, but thats all that really needs doing.

2. Epiphone J45-EC Studio, Robert

This is my second most used guitar. Pretty much all the songs I write start on this guitar, theres a few exceptions but most start here. I bought it in 2022, and Im very attached to it. Has a really deep sound. If you've heard my acoustic demos, this is what I was playing. Earthwood strings, E Standard tuning. I have had it in Drop D for some Nirvana stuff I did a few years back.

I dont plan on making any modifications to this. I may get the action lowered, but Id need a shop to do that. I'll eventually upgrade the tuners but it doesnt really need it, thats more of a 'I cant be bothered to keep tuning' upgrade than anything.

3. 1980 Aria Pro 2 STG-006, Blackie

This is my project at the moment. I got this as a thank you gift for looking after my parents cats when they went on holiday last year. This guitar has seen heavy use, theres scratches and dings all over it, and theres lots of things that need fixing. It needs new pickups, I wanna put a Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge and a Gibson Dirty Fingers in the neck. And it needs new tuners, so I'll upgrade to locking ones too at some point.

I mainly use this guitar for low distortion songs, it doesnt handle too much that well, if you use too much it kinda gets muddy and not in a good way. When I finally get the upgrades done, it'll be ready for all the distortion I wanna use. Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Strings, E Standard and at one time C#.

4. Epiphone Les Paul Special 2, Ebony

This guitar I got for my 23rd birthday this year. I have always wanted a Les Paul and this is the budget end of the range, but Im really happy with it. It handles distortion fine. The only issue Ive had is with the input jack but Ive fixed that now. I use the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Strings here too. I will upgrade the tuners at some point but its not a priority.

I mostly use this guitar for standard tuning songs whilst Im working on Blackie, since it handles distortion and delay affects really well. Again, if youve seen my demos and my covers you will have heard this.
