Ducktales Closing Remarks

this post may contain spoilers for the entirety of the Ducktales reboot

we (my brother and i) finished ducktales tonight, i want to share some of my thoughts on it. i will probably miss a lot of things, since i didnt write anything down while watching and it is almost midnight. and this post will probably be very unorganized.

as with any media, the thing that actually made the show good was the characters. so how were the characters in ducktales?

honestly, they were pretty hit or miss for me.

triplets: i love these guys, even louie. i learned to love him. all three of them are just so cute and endearing. i also really liked their sibling dynamics, though i do wish we got more of it in the show, since a lot of the time they were split up. there were several episodes where only one of the three even appeared. still, what we did get was cute.

webby: i love webby, i love her so much. she's such an entertaining character and i loved getting to see her grow from a sheltered girl who had never met other kids her age, to someone who had a real family she got along with AND two close friends outside the mcducks.

scrooge: i will never like him. he has never been right in his life. "he's part of the family and the triplets care about him!" i don't care, i wish he had died in the finale. or sooner. he would constantly talk about how he got his wealth through hard work, but that just isn't true. it's just not possible to become literally the richest person alive through "hard work," he made that through his company. or from just stealing people's treasure, which he frequently did. example:  how did he end up with the djinn's lamp? a priceless family heirloom? he was also very stingy with his money, not even willing to pay for things like helping donald with bills. capitalist supreme.

donald: i've never had strong opinions on any of the "mickey and friends" characters much. i liked goofy because my mom loves the goofy movie and he's a good dad, but that was about it. now? i love donald duck. he took in the triplets and raised them, and you can tell he cares about them so much. i screamed at his fakeout death. i especially love teen donald, just look at him.

launchpad: he wanted so badly to be the soos of this show. he isn't soos, and he never will be, but i still really liked him. he was endearing, his stupidity used as comic relief only got old sometimes.

della: della was a really fun character, her introduction definitely made her likeable. i just wish she didn't take after scrooge in the child endangerment factor. but she is really trying, and i have to give her some credit for that.

beakley: i honestly don't have a very strong opinion of her, i liked her, but she wasn't super stand out most of the time. after the finale my opinion of her has definitely improved, though.

gyro: i really liked him, he's dean from community, how could i not love him. i wish he got more screentime.

glomgold: this man is so funny to me. i can't explain why. i found him annoying for most of the show, but about halfway through i grew to love him.

lena: i generally liked her, but that was mostly for her being a friend for webby. my opinion on her isn't too strong

magica: she was interesting until she got out of the amulet and didn't have control of lena anymore, then she became more forgettable and boring. i did like her in the flashback scenes where she turned people into goats though, she had her moments of being entertaining.

violet: i really like her. i'm just drawn to characters with flat affect. me too girl

boyd: i know hes a very minor character but im including him because he is the cutest thing ive ever seen. look at this stupid thing

that bird that i hate: i cannot stand the lin manuel miranda duck. i genuinely cant tell if its his actual characterization that i hate or just because hes lin manuel miranda. every episode he was in was worse for it. why did he have SO MANY episodes just dedicated to him. he wasn't even interesting enough to warrant it

i didnt intend for this to just be about characters, but my battery is dying and its one in the morning. goodnight duckberg, here is lin manuel miranda being erased from every reality
