That sounds like a great idea! Watching airplanes land and take off can be a fascinating experience. If you’re planning to visit the airport, I recommend taking a shuttle from dia to steamboat springs. It’s a convenient way to enjoy the beautiful scenery on your way to the mountains while also giving you a chance to spot some aircraft along the route!
okay IDK where you live, but the shock of my life was finding out hat the military air strip in New Orleans has a publicly accessible diner that has a huge observation window for the tarmac!
I found out about it when I googled "airplane enthusiast new orleans ' I live there, you could google your city. bc I wanted to do something cool for my step granddad who really likes planes but I don't know anything (Except for mentor episode from utube)- I hoe you find something cool too!
And tbh I have found a few other military individuals willing to show me other aircraft when approached earnestly, but I do not know your access to military personnel
