RPG Maker Game Recommendations

Hello everyone, it's been a long while since I've been active on here, but I wanted to discuss a few things.

I really like RPG maker games. I think a lot of them are phenomenal and I wanted to share some of the ones I know that some others may like since I know it can be hard to find some nice shiny diamonds in the community.

With that being said, here's my list:

1. Ao Oni

A classic RPG maker game the follows a group of middle schoolers who explore a haunted house; however, they are unaware of the monsters that reside within. The Main character Hiroshi must find a way out of the mansion without getting caught by the Ao Oni.

Playing this game was a great experience and I loved playing through it. The puzzles are very difficult, and it takes a lot of learning, but if it's too much you can always look up the answer.

Ao Oni also has a comedy anime adaptation on Crunchy Roll along with novels and a series of manga, but these are quite hard to find.

2. Studio Investigrave Games

Such as Dead plate, Elevator Hitch, Cold Front, and Eloquent Countenance. The masterminds behind these games are a group of three, Rix, Rachel, and Bell Kalengar. They have completely taken the visual novel community by storm with Rachel and Rix's amazing story telling and characters and Bell Kalengar's beautiful music and OST for these games.

Many great ideas and creation have come from these great minds, and they are the inspiration of many who want to make games like them.

I have nothing but kind words and admiration for this team and I can truly tell that their work is from a place of ambition and a passion for storytelling.

All their games are on Itch.io and are free to download, but if you really like their games consider donating!

3. Angels Of Death

Angels Of Death follows a young girl, Rachel Gardener, who wakes up in an unknown place underground. As she explores the building she's trapped in, she encounters very dangerous situations and makes an unexpected alliance to help her escape the building while learning more about herself along the way.

This game deals with puzzles that may come across as difficult, however figuring them out was fun and a neat experience. There are a total of 4 chapters, each diving deeper and deeper into the lore of the game.

You can buy it on steam. It also has an anime and manga adaptation and was originally made in 2015.

4. Zeno Remake

Two boys wake up in an underground facility, unsure of what had happened before due to their amnesia. They start to explore but find themselves handcuffed to each other. Now they must work together to try and find an exit while learning about a virus called Zeno, a virus that has been affecting the minds of people and driving them to kill others. As you continue making your way up to the exit, you start noticing that one of the boys is acting very strange...

This was a remake of the original 2015 Zeno. Both the original and remake are on Itch.io and are free to download! As always, if you like the game consider donating to them.

5. End Roll

Out of all the ones I've listed, End Roll has got to be my favorite out of all of them.

Made in 2016 by the creator known as Segawa, End Roll is much like Omori in the style of gameplay and story, however I believe it is much darker than Omori.

The story follows a young boy named Russell who takes part in an experiment due to an unfortunate event that occurred involving him and some other people. This experiment sends Russell into a dream world where he goes on adventures with the towns people of Nameless Town, each character has different stories and backgrounds. As you explore the world more and more, you'll find that not everything is as it seems. Could this dream world be a punishment for your crimes instead?

This is a free game that anyone is able to access on the official END ROLL website.

OF COURSE! I'm glad you found this helpful! I always want to open up people's eyes to other great RPGmaker games, especially since I am a HUGE fan of underrated games like End Roll and even some more popular games that might've faded to obscurity like Ao-Oni. I've been exploring games within the RPGmaker community and will be updating the list soon with more gems I can find. (╹u╹ )
(Will also probably be posting links for the games soon too.)

I JUST GOT THROUGH THE FIRST EPISODE! It was really good and I'm going to play EP 2 now. (Might even add this to the list as well.)

THE FIRST EPISODE is like an intro, it's gonna get so much BETTER (and weirder) but i love the social commentary and the stupid jokes + the aesthetic and the art is so good ദ്ദി(。•̀ ,<)~✩‧₊

I agree, I really enjoyed the aesthetic and art a lot. My current favorite character in the game has to be a strong tie between Felix and Aiden.
I’ll definitely be playing more later.
Thank you for introducing me to this game!
