Art Burnout

Rotuzers Brain dump #2

A pain that I always had was feeling unmotivated to draw but having ideas or commissions or especially when artfight starts (its a yearly occurrence I get unmotivated in the middle of artfight) and the easiest thing I do that I think is really simple but people need to hear is DONT DRAW IF YOU DONT FEEL LIKE IT. Give yourself a break and do something else. If you’re really trying to get yourself to draw try to freehand pen drawings. Draw anything. You cant scribble it and you cant give up on a piece. Giving yourself freedom to draw without worry of something being good really pays off. I am not yet in college but it angers me how much art schools need ‘good art’ that is just realism. It stresses me that each piece I do isn't good anymore because it doesn’t work for my portfolio but letting myself refresh and freehand is so helpful to remind myself that I can prepare myself to be pushed and forced to draw in college when I need to but when im drawing in my free time, there is no limits or restrictions to what I can and cant do. Practicing and preparing for art school can be hell and make me want to quit but reminding myself that there is some people who love my art and are motivated to draw because of me is enough to keep me drawing as a hobby in my free time. Love you, thanks for reading.
