Lil rant but honestly I hate that there's always a loop of adults blaming the younger generation for being culturally different, I hate how this is still going on right now, with the advent of gen z being shitted on by SOME (NOT ALL BUT SOME) millennials and gen x people for simply having something different. Don't get me wrong I do see where the concern is coming from, I understand as a Gen Z kid not to waste too much time on social media and phone usage, and I respect that concern, but some will just go so far as dissing every single gen z individual as if EVERYONE IS THE SAME! I’ve never even used TikTok EVER before, yet they probably think otherwise lmao
I especially hate it when some (AGAIN not all just some) people from the older generations will go the extra mile to empower themselves to look better than newer kids by going “Oh they can't do ____, how stupid” I legit saw this one IG reel from someone in which his cousin/nephew(?) couldn’t open a cd case, then he goes on to say “these kids” like as if everyone in gen z cant be able to open a whole ass cd case, like wtf. What makes it worse were the comments I saw at the bottom talking about “real OG’s know how to open a CD case” like bro does that mean I, a young Gen Z kid who was born in 2006, am an OG too? Like I'm pretty sure a baby can open that thing in seconds.
Idk man I just hate generational hate, when I grow to become like 50 or something, I don't wanna be like those people, which is why I choose to just respect and believe in the younger generations (specifically Gen Alpha) or even go as far as to defend them despite what's going on in their lives, cuz just because they watch ski bidi toilet or some stupid stuff, doesn’t automatically mean the younger generation is “stupid” or “so over”, they’re just kids, when we were they’re age, we would watch mlg stuff, or like any other crazy internet stuff, its not even like skibidi toilet is going to influence them or something, its just a video that's funny to them. If they enjoy it, then that's fine by me.
Again I do understand where the concern is coming from, i feel like children shouldnt have access to social media (instagram, twitter, tumblr) until there like 18, youtube might be the only exception, there should at least be safe spaces in the internet for kids.
If you are worried about what effects may lie upon a child when they’re just watching Skibidi Toilet, just know that I used to watch those weird Angry Bird 3d videos back when I was like 4 to 6 years old, but those videos had no terrible influence on me looking back, I've been choosing to meditate daily, exercise, and study filmmaking and music. Looking, those angry bird vids were atrocious lol
“the best thing to do is for us to be the open-minded individuals in spite of the others who aren’t
show the younger generation that you support them, yk? I think they all need it now more than ever, there growing up in some interesting times”
- a friend of mine after I talked to him about the issue.
Personally i cant wait to see what gen alpha will come up in the future, If old heads back in the 70s and 60s used to look at people like Steve Jobs and Spielberg, who knows? What Gen Alpha would come up with in the next few decades, they can find solutions to climate change, they can invent technology that can help solve viruses or biological issues!
