Okay...sooo since i am still not tired of yapping i decided to write another blog entry, again idk who will read this, if anyone will, i just need to talk about this with someone having the impression of being heard.SO let’s dive into it! The 2000 film based on Bret Easton Ellis’s novel of the same name. If you haven’t seen it, buckle up, because this movie is a wild ride through the mind of a man who is as charming as he is, well, unhinged. (tho that man is hot af)So, the movie stars Christian Bale (my husband) as Patrick Bateman, a wealthy New York banker who has a few ahem unusual hobbies. By day, he’s the epitome of the 1980s yuppie—sharp suits, perfect hair, and a portfolio that screams “I’m doing really well.” But let's go back to his hobbies uh? well things get a bit... darker. Let’s just say his hobbies include a rather disturbing mix of extreme violence and interior decorating. what a beautiful combo, don't y'all think?Patrick Bateman is a guy who spends his days talking about the latest trends in finance and his nights indulging in some of the most outrageous activities you could imagine. He’s like the guy at your high school who seemed perfect on paper but was secretly a serial killer—only Bateman actually is one, and he’s got an entire monologue about it. It’s a bit like finding out your neighbor’s immaculate lawn hides a secret basement filled with questionable memorabilia.First off, Christian Bale is absolutely fantastic in this role (and absolutely hot..okay okay you got it, i'll stop). He plays Bateman with such a level of calm and collectedness that it’s almost charming—until you realize he’s discussing his plans to chop someone up with the same enthusiasm he’d use to talk about his new business strategy. It’s kind of impressive how he makes you believe that someone could be so smoothly deranged.Speaking of status, Bateman is obsessed with maintaining his perfect image. He works out, he eats right, and he talks about his skincare routine like he’s a walking commercial. It’s almost funny how much effort he puts into looking like a million bucks, only for his real interests to be a bit more... sinister. He’s like a high-maintenance gym-goer who suddenly reveals that his idea of a good time includes, well, a chainsaw. The movie is full of darkly comedic moments that are both shocking and hilarious. For example, there’s a scene where Bateman shows off his “personal” playlist, which includes some incredibly upbeat songs that he listens to while committing heinous acts. It’s as if he’s decided that the soundtrack to his life needs to be as upbeat as possible, even if the events are anything but.And let’s not forget the running gag of Bateman’s interactions with his friends and colleagues. They’re all so absorbed in their own superficial dramas that they barely notice anything wrong. It’s like everyone in his social circle is wearing blinders made of designer labels. They’re all too busy talking about their latest acquisitions and appearances to realize that their friend might just be a little too interested in, uh, making the world a bit more colorful in his own special way.The film also has some pretty wild moments that are so over-the-top, they become darkly funny. For instance, there’s a scene where Bateman gets into an elaborate argument with a rival about business cards. Yes, you read that right—a whole scene dedicated to comparing business cards! And it’s presented with such gravitas that it becomes absurdly hilarious. The seriousness with which these characters discuss their cards is like a parody of corporate culture, and it’s a perfect example of how the film blends satire with shock value. The ending (NO SPOILERS DW) of “American Psycho” is a trip in itself. Without giving too much away, it’s safe to say that the conclusion leaves you scratching your head and questioning everything you’ve just watched. It’s like the movie drops a giant puzzle piece in your lap and says, “Good luck figuring this one out!” It’s meant to be unsettling, but the way it’s executed is both thought-provoking and, if you’re in the right mood, kind of funny. In summary, “American Psycho” is a film that combines dark humor with horror in a way that’s both unsettling and strangely entertaining. It isn't a movie for everyone, like there are some scenes that are...let's say too much. i found it confusing and at the same time a masterpiece---ops....i started yapping too much again...sorry about that. are you still here? i hope so. What do you think about this movie? do you like it as much as i do or you have other opinions? and if you have never saw it... are you going to?
