Animal Crossing and a quieter life

It's raining and thundering real hard rn <3

I went on a walk a while ago. Saw 2 rabbits. And also saw some weirdo squatting at a side of a dark shady road so I made an immediate 180° turn and walked back the way I came from.

Even though it might not be the best idea to be walking out alone at 10pm as a young woman, the atmosphere is so nice and peaceful I almost can't help it. Late night, (or very early morning) walks are something unmatchable. When almost no people are around and it's so dark that the only thing people see about you is your silhouette. It feels like you have a safety blanket over you. That said, everyone else you come across also has that same advantage. Even though Finland is a pretty safe coutry and nothing's ever happened to me, good to keep in mind to stay off the darker and quieter streets and to always stay somewhat alert.

Altogether my walk was a success. Bit spooky but it really gave me the refreshment I needed. Felt my legs tingle nicely after sitting down back on my pc. I really should start walking more. I just hate coming across people.

Over the past few days I've started getting into Animal Crossing again. My lovely friend made me crack my 3ds over the summer and ever since I've been carrying it around me pretty much everywhere. I've mostly just been playing Tomodachi Life. I also had New Leaf installed but maybe played it twice. (yes I know... shameful) Now though... the tables have turned...

For some unknown reason I opened New Leaf again few days ago... And man I have been playing it so much. It's such a blast.

I never got to play Animal Crossing growing up so honestly man I'm still kind of new to the game. Hearing these shocking news, my friend made me try out City Folk around two years ago. But I couldn't really get into it back then. Idk, I had always really wanted to play the Animal Crossing games but I just couldn't focus on it at the time. Now I'm pretty sure the reason to that was because I was playing it on my pc. It's such a different experience playing on my 3ds. No outside disruptions. Just the game.

Now I can finally say I'm hooked. And I'm so glad. It really is right up my alley

I don't think I know how to put it into words, but I've been longing to make everything around me a little quieter. There's so much going on when you open your phone or computer that at this point I'm just sick of it. Considering how you're all reading this on Spacehey, I bet many people can relate to what I'm experiencing.

I just need a break from it all. It's really messing with me. I keep on watching videos and playing games that I don't even enjoy that much. All just because it stimulates my brain. I'm so sick of it. It's like eating too much candy. Sure it tastes good but... eugh.

Animal Crossing on my 3ds doesn't give me the same feeling though. Quite the opposite. It's such a simple yet charming game, without any of this bullshit that desperately tries to make you hooked to play it 24/7. I just do my little daily tasks and after some time I hit a roadblock where I realize there's not much else to do and I'll just have to return again the next day.

I also really enjoy the fact I can take this little thing with me everywhere. It doesn't limit me to just sit on my desk... Makes me wanna go outside

[Edit: I also forgot to mention, but I played Pocket Edition for a while when it came out. I'm not really sure if it counts though, since it's such a simplified version of Animal Crossing]

Speaking of wanting to quiet down everything that's going around you, I've been slowly trying to move away from social media and lessen my use of the internet. I deleted my Tiktok account a while ago. Best decision of my life lol. Been also thinking about deleting Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. But it's complicated...

Me and my irl friends use Whatsapp as our main way of communicating. But Snapchat is also in heavy use when we need to send pics about something and sometimes we even make hangout plans over there. So I'd majorly miss out on stuff... But holy fuck do I hate that app. It's the spawn of satan.

Twitter and Instagram on the other hand aren't such a big deal. I barely use either. But even so, they still kind of loom over me as some sort of dead weight. I'm kind of debating if I should just delete both. Only thing holding me down is the fact that I have deleted my instagram before and lived to regret it.

Those platforms (especially Instagram) are a way to keep strings to people you don't see that much anymore. I'm the type of person who keeps wondering about random old classmates and what they are up to after all the years of not seeing them. Instagram helps me answer all those questions. ...But what good is it to keep tabs on people that you haven't seen and have barely talked to in 10 years? Maybe it's time to stop pretending like you have anything to do with these people anymore. Maybe it's time to move on and focus on the ones who actually are there. Is there really any point in keeping yourself updated on these strangers' lives?

I'm still a little hesitant to do anything, but it's something to think about.

I guess that little tangent was more about Instagram. My Twitter ain't too bad. My algorithm just consists of a few cool artists and some of my closest friends. It's my small little bubble. I kind of just have it to be able to find the works of those few artists and nothing else. I guess I could keep it. And like I said, I barely open it. Not too much of a problem

Sorry for rambling on. I really appreciate if you've read this far.

Honestly I'm really interested to hear any of your little thoughts about the the topics I went through in this blog post of mine.

Be sure to share, even if it goes out of topic! I'd love to strike up more conversations in the comments

Oh and a question for everyone: What are some things you do instead of being online? (for example: reading, going on walks etc. ...I really need more ideas)

Thank u for reading <3

Wow, this was such a beautiful and calm read. I can smell autumn.
Solo walks are my favourite, especially in the cold!! the other day i bought a chai latte and went to my local graveyard. It was so peaceful and I saw a family of mice!!
I love playing animal crossing on my old 3DS, so calm and nostalgic ☆

what a lovely post! my favourite thing to do offline is drawing. (i posted some art today if you'd like to look!) i draw on my nintendo switch and 3ds using colors live and colors 3d. i have adhd and a very short attention span so i can't spend a lot of time drawing in one go, but i suppose every little bit counts, hm? (^-^)

Oh man. Drawing on ur Switch and 3DS sounds so fun :D I remember I used to make a bunch of flipnotes on my DSi as a kid. But drawing on a DS is so difficult tho. Props to u for that T_T

Also, I checked out ur drawings. You've got such a soft and bubbly art style, it's like candy. Really dope x)

Walking alone is the best hobby that anyone can have, facts.

Right here where I live it is not safe to walk when it's midnight. But sometimes I make a risk and, it's a beautiful experience. It helps me to connect with the Old Gods and leave aside all things related to work. Hope that the next time you go for a walk, you can take more pictures!! I've never seen photos of Finland night's.

Aside for walking, I like to write and listening to music

Oh and I almost forgot. Deleting my accounts from Twitter and Instagram, and replacing it by Reddit and spacehey it helped me to desintoxicate from social media

Thanks for ur comments!!! I'll be sure to share more pics of my walks in future blog posts

Also Reddit and Spacehey are definitely way more chill than the other social media platforms I've been using. Good call on your end to move into using only them! :]

About the walk, sounds like a pretty interesting experience!
About Animal Crossing, I love it, I remember I used to play it a damn lot on my 3DS when I was nothing but a kid and life was easier, but the nostalgia won these days and I'm actually gonna buy a cracked one tomorrow just to play it again lol.
