my mother mentioned that the movie 'UGLIES' was on netflix, she said that the movie is based of books she read years ago, so of course i sat down and watched it with her . . .
the movie is probably one of my favs now . . .
THE BACKGROUNDS, THE SOUNDS, THE CASTS, THE PLOT . . .
i could not take my eyes off the screen AND hoped that there will be more movies of this book series, yes, the movie was so great that i am going to read all the books . . .
in one of the scenes, the leader of the rusties, 'david', said: "before you came here, how many times a day did you think about how you looked, whats wrong with you, they make us feel so alone and so insecure that we dont have time for things that actually matter, thinking, reading, learning, dreaming, choosing who you become, and im not okay with that, and youre not okay with that" . . .
what this character 'david' said, made me reflect on myself and my choices, i have been so focused on the way i look, that i dont do what is important, i dont learn, i dont create unbreakable bonds or fun memories with my family & other people, i stopped dreaming about the life i wanted and gave up all hope for my future, i sleep all day, rotting away in my room, and i avoid daily, important tasks . . .
and, im not okay with that . . .
i was also thinking about how much HATE joey king gets because she is a famous actress that is silly or just does not fit this societies standards of what other famous actresses look/act like . . .
people say that her acting isn't the best, from what i have seen, she is living her best life & is super successful . . .
i think this movie is going to make a big change to people that LISTEN . . .
this movie helped me WAKE UP and notice what i have & have not been doing to/with myself, my future and the people around me that love me . . .
from today on forward, i pledge that i won't let looks be the reason for my downfall anymore, im going to read & learn & create & love & think & dream . . .
HELP BE THE CHANGE !!!!! # BE A RUSTIE
