Beginning note: Hiii, this is mainly for PC/Laptop/PC handheld gamers (steam deck ppl). I just want to make a list of websites that can help you save money on games! I'm sure a lot of you already know about these, but I didn't know until recently, sooo here is a short list. Feel free to comment on anything that isn't on here, and I'll add it.
Ethical CD key sites
A CD key site. CD keys can be used to activate games on Steam like so:
I call these sites 'ethical' because the keys are obtained ethically (buying the CD keys directly from devs instead of obtaining them in unsavoury ways), meaning that the developers don't get their money stolen. If you use 'unethical' sites, I would recommend coming to these when buying games from indie devs since they suffer the most when it comes to these fishy CD key sites.
These sites also have bundle sales every once in a while that are great value. For example, a while ago, Humble Bundle had a bundle sale that sold almost all of the Resident Evil series for just £23. That's a steal in my opinion.
Also note that when you buy CD keys, developers get 100% profit as Steam doesn't take the 30% cut when developers sell CD keys.
Note: Humble Bundle gives a partial part of its revenue to charity.
Tip: I'd recommend comparing the sales from Steam and these sites if you're not purchasing game bundles as sometimes the sales on Steam for individual games can be better than the ones here.
The games on these sites have sales separately from Steam, and sometimes you may not be getting the better deal.
Other useful sites
Just other useful sites that aren't selling games.
You can use DLCompare to quickly compare prices from different platforms and sites so you can find the best deal available.
While SteamDB is generally used to check statistics for Steam, it also has a "When is the next sale?" section where you can look at all the upcoming major sales Steam will have. This way you can plan your purchases ahead of time instead of mindlessly waiting. You can also see all current discounted games by checking the sales section.
Tip: If you are interested in a game, I would recommend looking at that specific game's 'historical low' (the lowest price it's been on sale for) so you can have an estimate of how much it will cost the next time it goes on sale. You can do this by clicking on a game on SteamDB and then scrolling down until you see this graph.
