Being emo in 2024: a detailed review

[From the perspective as someone who presents femme]

Being called emo by tween boys is so weird, cuz like, yeah im emo. thats kind of the point lol. Weird thing is, when i dressed more generally alternative, everyone called me emo. Now that i dress emo, the names have become a mix of emo and gothic. 

A lot of people do react positively to the way i dress though. I love walking through a store and two girls standing behind me, whispering about how cool my outfit is. Millenials seem to also love it, often when they notice me they start smiling really brightly. Another unexpected group of people that like the way i dress is dads in their 40/50. My mom says its becausew theyre from the punk age. They absolutely love my knee high converse, bandshirts and this one shirt with an eagle riding a motorbike and flames in the background.

General opinions on gender and age groups:

Guys [0-10]: Theyre usually pretty sweet. Not much to say

Guys [10-15]: Literal spawns of satan. Hateful, disgusting an terrifying. Avoid at all costs.

Guys [15-20]: Mixed bag, but usually not the best. Very judgemental, but less loud about it. More mean shittalkers. Some are really nicew though. Cherish those ones.

Guys [20-30]: I dont interact much with this demographic. Generally pretty neutral. Ive gotten a few "goth mommy" comments from them in the past though...

Guys [30-40]: chill, social. Often really interested in the way i dress, telling me they dressed like me back in the day. Sometimes a few weird jokes about me dressing like 15 yrs ago, but nothing bad.

Guys [40-60]: Nice. They think im cool and often tell me i look like "A real rockchick!" while doing the devilhorns rock hand symbol at me. Good smalltalk.

Guys [60-100]: Mixed bag again. Some are sweet and witty, a lot are judgemental. Its old people though, what do you expect.

Girls [0-10]: The sweetest. They often ask me why my hair is [insert current hair color]. Whenever i tell them its because i like that color, they get really excited. A few times theyve asked me how my hair is said color and i always answer with something magical, which again makes them really excited. 

Girls [10-15]: Not my cup of tea. Often hateful and judgemental again. Some are decent though.

Girls [15-20]: chill, social. Most arent that judgemental, but dont care about the way i dress either. They treat me like they would any other person, which is honestly very refreshing. Some are mean, but not to my face, so who cares. A lot of them tell me im really cool, they like my outfit or that im hot hehe.

Girls [20-30]: Dont interact much with them again. Im not really built for their lifestyle [parties, hooking up, etc.], but they leave me alone so its all good. They're allways willing to help out though, so thats nice. 

Girls [30-40]: Nice. neutral. No comments tbh. Some get really excited when they see me [elder emos most likely]

Girls [40-60]: They dont really have an opinion of me. I was once told to not talk to her daughters because i would be a "bad influence"... I dont drink, smoke, do drugs or even do hookups... -_- They often like my hair.

Girls [60-100]: Category to compliment my hair most often. Sometimes they ask if its natural lol. Most are quite nice.

Gender queer: Always nice to see. Nice, chill people. Good people to become friends with.
