WHO IS JOHN FRUSCIANTE ???

john anthony m0therfvcking frusciante is the guitarist of the red hot chili peppers as well as having a super cool solo career under his name and the alias trickfinger ( but uhh we don't talk about that ) yes he's 54 and yes he has a wife but he's still a pretty princess in my heart :33 i've seen him on lists as the 10th best guitarist of all time, yet i feel like he STILL doesn't get enough recognition, even though he's in a pretty big band.

before anyone gets heated, yes there may be some jesus jokes in here,, the whole bit is that he looks kinda like jesus and there's a phrase among his fans " john frusciante is god ",,  i don't actually mean it anyway let's CONTINUE !!!!!

when i was like 12 or 13 i was dating this PERSON ( who's probably reading this right now grgrgrr ) and they were like
" hey !! i have a new favourite guitarist look "

and the first thing i said was " he looks kinda crusty ... IN A GOOD WAY "

so for the next little while he was referred to as ' crusty john ' ( 〃▽〃)

i got more into him at 14, learning about his band ataxia and looking into the niandra lades era ( WHICH WE WILL LOOK INTO SHORTLY ) and now he's my favourite musician ever and he means a lot to me yayayy

CHILDHOOD

john was born on march 5, 1970, in new york. after his parents divorced, he and his mother moved to california when he was 7. at age 9, his stepfather offered him his first acoustic guitar.

it was only until he was a teenager that he began getting REALLY into guitar, as he was " distracted by whatever kids were into, like sweets and video games ". he went through a few guitar teachers,, in an interview he described the story of his first guitar teacher who would make him play his guitar because john's was better and he wanted to play it. still, he mainly taught himself how to play, and for the next several years he would spent all his time practicing !!! he became obsessed with the ramones, jimi hendrix and the germs. 

while at school, it was clear that john was an outsider, mainly because he would rather concentrate on music. he'd later describe that at that age, all he wanted was a friend to show his ramones records to. he also told a story in an interview that when he was about 9, he'd saved up a jar of pennies to buy the new ramones record. imagining little 9 year old john proudly walking into a record store with a jar of pennies was too sweet i just had to mention it (╥﹏╥)

at 15, john became a big fan of a local band, the red hot chili peppers, while their original guitarist hillel slovak was still in the band ( WHICH WE WILL GET TO SHORTLY ... ) at 16, john left school and home to become a full-time musician, even auditioning to be a guitarist for frank zappa,, but he "chickened out" at the last minute. at an rhcp concert, john met hillel and over the years, he met anthony kiedis and flea, being in contact with them regularly. in 1988, hillel tragically died of an overdose. i'm gonna add a little hillel segment here because he truly was an incredible guitarist and without him, john would never be where he is today and he just genuinely so nice so yeah rip hillel i love you man

  though by this point jack irons had left the band, flea and kiedis didn't want to quit the band as they knew they hadn't yet reached their full capability as the red hot chili peppers. flea had jammed with john many times before, with songs like pretty little ditty off the album mother's milk being birthed through these jams. flea assured anthony that he'd be the perfect fit for the band,, especially considering that uhh he knew how to play ALL THEIR SONGS ( ˶°ㅁ°) !!

a little while later, john audition to play for thelonious monster ( they sound pretty good they have like 4000 listeners go check them out ) but JUST IN TIME flea jumped in and was like " join the chili peppers " and john was like fuck yeahhhh so that's how that happened !!!!!

flea and others close to the band described john as " eerily similar to hillel ", not only in his playing but even stood and acted like him. in 1989, john and the band's new drummer chad smith debuted on mother's milk, the album peaking at #59 on billboard with the cover of stevie wonder's higher ground. also they were all so hot in the mother's milk era HELP ME

day by day and show by show, the chili peppers were only getting more popular and at an alarmingly fast rate. years earlier, when john was attending an rhcp concert, hillel had asked him " would you still like the chilis if they got so popular that they played the l.a forum ? " john replied, " no, because it would ruin the whole thing " and we will GET TO THAT ISSUE !!

the band's fifth album and john's second with them, blood sugar sex magik (1991), brought even more success their way.. but what hillel said continued to bother john and he began loathing their popularity, saying " i wish we'd keep playing in bars like we used to ". during the bssm world tour, john's relationship with anthony started falling apart, even though they were once the closest in the band, and would eventually stop talking. john would rebel by playing his parts badly and often angrily. though it was a d1ck move, it was clear he wasn't happy. and this is PERFECTLY highlighted in this performance.

at a hotel room in japan in 1992, john did not want to play one night. he angrily slammed his arm on a table, trying to injure it in some way that would prevent him from playing, but it didn't do any damage. he rang their tour manager and said he wanted to quit the band. after a band meeting, the band convinced him to play the show. right after, he took a plane home to california with one more date in Japan still to go. on may 7 1992, john left the peppers and went home to decay for a whole year.

during his time with the peppers thus far, john had a massive drug problem, particularly with heroin. nearing the end of his time with the band, he started writing his debut solo album, niandra lades and usually just a tshirt. the album is split into two parts, niandra lades songs having titles while usually just a tshirt were untitled, only being numbered. niandra lades was mainly written while he was in the band. everyone around him could see that slowly, john was deteriorating. he barely looked the same, his teeth yellow and skin pale, body thin and arms fvcked. here's a video on this era.
