The Ferrari killer Supra

The Mark 5 Supra in question:

Mark 5 Supra Instagram Post

My Ferrari killer Mark V Supra. What can I say? It absolutely FUCKS. One of the more elaborately designed cars of my roster, with it's "war machine" type design. I had been thinking heavily of Gurren Lagann while I was designing the car, so I felt the scuffs and chips and "wear and tear" look of the car added to it. I always felt the Supra represented the idea of tuner car side of things, and that it left a legacy of being a cheaper car that could throw down with the big dogs like your Ferraris or Lambos when you mod it up right. That being said, I'd like to divulge into the details on the car, as I there was some thought put into the car that I'd like to emphasize with this blog post. To start with, I'd like to mention the many "claims of victory" on the livery, the various tally marks that seem to indicate the various others the Supra has bested in a "combat" (aka the many rides that it's gapped over time). To emphasize it's war machine type aesthetic, I included those tallys. I got the idea from two main sources of inspo, from both Captain Rex (who sports tally marks on his helmet) of the Clone Wars series, and from this GTR I saw online, which was known as the "Hellcat Killer GTR".  As you may notice, the cars I chose as the Supra's victims are specially chosen. I chose the Mustang as a victim as I felt that often times (not all the time), drivers of the v8 (or v6 lol) ponies are more cocky, and the untrained eye would see the Toyota badge and scoff, thinking they're the hottest shit on the planet. My second choice for the cars victims were the Hellcats. This is a tribute to the OG Hellcat killer GTR I mentioned prior. I also feel that alot of Hellcat and Scat pack (who tf named it that) drivers also have a cocky attitude asking to get checked like the Mustang drivers do. My third victim choice for the Supra are the Nissan GTR's. I chose them as a victim choice not out of bad blood, but because I feel that the Nissan GTR is considered to be the rival to the Supra, and as you may notice on the livery, the GTR's are the least present, with the smallet amount of claims to the Supra's bodycount. Finally, and probably the most emphasized of the bunch, the Ferrari's. This is a reference to the first Fast and Furious film, specifically the scene where Paul Walkers character is driving a Mark 4 Supra against a Ferrari, to which the driver responds "More than you can afford pal, Ferrari". The Ferrari driver proceeds to horribly get gapped by the Supra.

THE OG SCENE

As for color/paint choice, I decided to put an emphasis on its aggressive nature, I decided to incorporate several key inspirations for the livery. I wanted the car to look well used, I wanted the car to be able to look like you could spray paint on it and it would still have a menacing look to it. A bit mad max, a bit street racer, I decided to take some inspiration from cars featured in Need For Speed Prostreet, as many cars in game have a more unpolished look with a matte paintjob and already have the look I wanted to go for,  most notably the iconic 240sx driven by the protagonist, Ryan Cooper. This inspiration is also why I included the team Noise Bomb windshield banner and the Battle Machine decal on the rear bumper on the left. Upon painting the car in matte red, I realized the car needed something to break up all the red, as just having it look like a matte red all over, I decided to mix it up with a matte black, to create the illusion of unpainted body panels, which is present on alot of track cars, such as the ones present in the aformentioned Need For Speed Prostreet (See the left hand fender of Ryan Coopers 240sx), or your various home built drift cars that you'd see at your local race track (assuming the karens didn't cry to get it closed down due to noise levels they were warned about before moving next to said race track). I wish the car got more attention, as I barely got any engagement on the car on Instagram, but nevertheless, if given the chance I'd do this car over again if it means getting to reexperience creating the livery of a car I enjoy.
