Remembrance (Poem)

Remembrance

There is a little girl who lives in my memories

I will never meet her,

But I know her so well

I know she would surely cry if she saw me now

This little girl could do no wrong

As she’d pray in her bed at night

A selfish prayer that would console her lonely plight

She only wanted to be adored

The girl had dreams as bright as the stars

And the imagination to ignite them

“Anything is possible;” she was told, and she truly believed them

What a fool she was

And though we are as different as night and day

She and I are one in the same,

Two fools,

But only one name
