Helloo, I want to clarify that my English isn't that good cause it's not my native language, so there might be stuff written weirdly or wrong. Plz don't judge.
So, I watched the movie Monster (2023) like yesterday and it's fvcking awesome. At the start you may get lose cause it keeps changing perspective and there r a lot of plot twist but when you get to half of it you'll understand, at the end it shows the kids perspective, which tells you how the real story went, it's cute but also dramatic. The actors and actresses were amazing, including the kids, who had like almost no experience acting (I believe). I don't know how to explain how good this movie is. Also, the movie centers around queer people, it's a really good representation of what issues queer kids may have. In an interview the kid actors said that they had people helping them get educated about lgbtq+ comunity so they could do their best in this movie. The last thing I would like to add is that the movie is centered in South Korea and in this time. It also has an open ending. If you're lgbtq+ and/or like dramas I think you would like this movie, so I definitely recommend it.
SPOILERS:
When you first see the mom's point of view you think "It's so obvious the teacher is lying and is abusing the kid." and then they show you Hori's (the teacher) perspective and it's like whatt? what's going on? Also the kids perspective was so cuteee, they were so happy just playing around, then it got sad. :< What really broke my heart was when Minato (the kid) went to Yori's (the other kid) house and he opened the door with his dad, he said he was fixed and that he liked a girl near his grandmas house. Minato said "You were already normal." or something like that and I started quite literally crying. Then after Minato was about to go away with his bike Yori opened the door and said "Sorry. I lied.", his dad closed the door and you could hear his dad abusing him. It was so sad. In the end after they were in the bus, I believe they survived but just went somewhere else, I also like the idea that they died and were reborn but that's just not what I think happened. I saw somewhere a theory that said that Yori burned the bar down because his dad took him there so he could see the girls (who were prostitvtes if I remember well) and it makes a lot of sense cause Yori didn't try to murder his dad any other time (as far as we know), he probably didn't burn the bar down just because he was there, he just wanted to have an excuse to escape.
