Fashion with rules, twee

I get that people should wear what they want, especially to express themselves. But if you wanna be apart of a subculture, alternative style with a big community, you have to respect the criteria and guidelines :/ you can still express yourself even with respecting a few guindelines, respecting people part of the community.

(Looking at “lolitas” wearing shein clothes and non modest clothing).

What do you guys think about the “new twee”?

I think that it’s good that people change styles overtime, but this is really not the case;

Twee has no criteria” it doesn’t. It’s also good to change styles. BUT, without changing their whole essence!!!

Twee is known to be quirky, colorful and modest. Which is pretty the same description of the new one. The only problem is, that Twee is minimalist and inspired to 60s preppy/mod! Twee is meant to be fun and quirky. But without making the style irrecognizable!

I’m also pretty annoyed by the fact that the style didn’t change because of the twee community. It changed because the “igari/whimsical” style is trending on tiktok and because it didn’t have a name, people forced it into the twee style for some reason. Making it totally different. Maximalist, sometimes with no modest clothing and overall irrecognizable. I wish people could appreciate the original Twee style more!

I think calling the new style with an adjective like as said “Whimsical” or “Quirky” would solve this huge problem since being adjectives allows it to cover LOTS of styles and aesthetics.

Please don’t think i’m hating over New twee! I love the style. It’s beautiful. I just wish old twee had its justice.

What do you think?
