- Choose an image-hosting website. Some common and free ones are Imgur, Imgbb, and Catbox. (If you want a temporary link, check out Imgbb's auto-delete image feature or Litterbox!)
- Upload your image to the website and copy the image link. This link MUST end in an image-file format, such as .png, .jpeg, .gif, etc.
- Add the image on your blog post by clicking the Insert Image button (pictured below) and pasting the image link in the URL box. The Description box is optional, but it is alt text made for page readers to read out. If you can, describe your image for people who need it! :-)
What you SHOULDN'T do:
- Link the image from a path on your device - Because your image is locally stored in your computer, SpaceHey will not have the permission to read it, therefore the site is not going to display it. You have to upload it onto the Internet for SpaceHey to read it.
- Link the image from social media posts or conversations - Social media posts can be deleted or time out at any time, not guaranteeing your image to permanently display on the site. Sites that allow image-uploading in conversations or servers are also not guaranteed to display for privacy or storage reasons.
- Link the image from a random, personal site - This is more out of courtesy, but when an image is linked from a website, it takes up some bandwidth from the website to load it onto another, so if you take some cute gif you find on an artist's personal Neocities site and copy the link from there to share it, then it takes up bandwidth from that site's limited supply. If you find a picture that you like from the site, then it's best to save it and upload it onto a dedicated image-hosting site to save that person's site a shiny penny!
