So I got the chance to go to Halloween Horror nights Orlando this past weekend a few days after it opened and wanted to share my rating of the different houses and the scare zones. My credentials are that I've seen almost 400 horror movies and still have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about :3
(NOT PICTURED: Major Sweets Candy Factory BECAUSE THE LINES WERE SO INSANELY LONG I DID NOT GET TO GO)
9. The Museum: Deadly exhibits
8. Goblin's Feast
I was able to go into this house last second just before the park closed so I got to go in basically alone but the scares still didn't do much. Ranking the houses based on scares puts this one low but basing it on pure set design and costumes this one would rocket up. The design of the whole house is highly detailed and the costumes are all well done. The house focuses more on that than on jump scares so if you prefer that then I would recommend this one for you :3
7. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines
Going into Halloween Horror Nights without searching up any details about it beforehand and just being plain stupid kinda threw me off cause I didn't realize what this house was about until the end and was so confused. It had really good scares though that was just my own fault so take this rating with a grain of salt. (I'm going again and will redo this one with a new mindset)
6. A Quiet Place
Im not gonna lie to you I kinda hated this one. I had such high hopes for it and I was so disappointed. I was hoping they would make it SILENT but oh boy! I told myself I could do what all the people online were saying to do which was to try not to jump or make any noise but oh boy was that easy! Personally, it relied too much on the animatronics to scare the people and you could smell those things a mile away. A lot of the acting was questionable from the like two actors in the whole thing. I also didn't care much about the movies so maybe thats just me but the "chronological order" felt kinda messy.
5. Triplets of terror
This is another one that was kinda basic in theory but made up for it with good scares. Honestly anything is more original than A quiet place. The whole thing starts with a man being murdered in front of you so it was definitely better than a certain one based on a move beginning with "A" and ending in "place". There was also a whole room based on a podcast which I think is good to highlight the red flags of being a podcaster. Scariest room in the house. But it was a fun house in all seriousness.
4. Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America
Imma be honest about this one chief I had such low expectations but low key it was actually really good. The costumes were all really good and the scares were also placed at good spots. The giant animatronic was really cool and the different theming for each monster was also really fun.
3. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
I also had really low expectations for this one cause I have not seen either of the movies and you know Ghostbusters isn't exactly the most extreme horror but credit to that one blue guy that followed me all the way to the end of the house to scare me right at the end. That in itself made this house so much more fun. The actors all looked like they wanted to be there unlike this one house that begins with "A" and ends with "place" and the sets were also really fun (even though I've never seen the movies)
2. Slaughter Sinema 2
I love b series horror movies from the 80s (Basket case you will always be in my heart) and so this was so much fun for me. The amount of effort put into each of these rooms was insane. While the line was incredibly long, there was a screen playing trailers for all the movies that were featured inside and I was so excited. I loved that each room was completely different and unique and the movies all seemed like genuinely good who's gonna take on the responsibility of making them. All the scares were really good and is definitely worth the wait.
1. Insidious: The Further
Finally, the one everyone's been waiting for. The one everyones been hyping up since day one. After A Quiet Place I was a bit hesitant but when a worker went up to us and said "this is the scariest one are you guys ready" I knew it had to be good. And boy oh boy! did I piss my pants in the curtain room the first time. This was the house I traded the opportunity to go into Major Sweets Candy Factory for to go into this one a second time. The variety in scares was amazing like not every scare was a jump scare. Some would sneak up on you while some would simply just stand there. The costumes and make up were amazing and the creativity to the scares was horrifying at times. The actors used the room to their advantage and even when they scared the people in front of you they would make sure to get you from behind. They left no one out and full effort was put in. All credit goes to the person in the old man costume that followed me around the back determined to scare me out the exit. I love you pookie.
SCARE ZONES
5. Duality of Fear (Production Central)
Honestly kinda missed this one. I feel like they were really spread out and you couldn't really tell it was a scare zone. The chainsaws were cool though. I don't have much to say about this one
4. Demon queens (Hollywood)
bro idk half the actors ignored me in this one and the prop in the middle was kinda awkward
3. Enter The Blumhouse (San Fransisco)
This one was more of a like photo op than an actual scare zone but The Black phone was back so that was fun. The actors were also really interactive which always makes it 10 times more entertaining.
2. Swamp of the undead (Central Park)
THE SET WAS AMAZINGGG. You fr felt like you were in a swamp with zombies everywhere. The mist made it hard to tell who was a zombie and who was a person. Definitely an amazing scare zone.
1. Tourture Fair
Literally perfection. The details were crazy the different showcases of medieval tortures. Even the music that played mixed with the atmospheric noises even made eating a pizza near it scary. Personally I loved the plague doctors I think it was so unique and fun I kept coming back.
To end this off, I want to thank my mom to bearing through all this and coming with me into every house. And my dad for the wonderful hotel. Love you <3
