☆DREAM GAME CONCEPT☆

This blog is all about a dream game concept I've had ever since I was a tiny itty bitty bug. Most of it is unfinished and may probably be changed later or ultimately scrapped. Btw, I have no knowledge in coding so don't expect this to come out any time soon, this is mostly just my autistic ramblings of what "My Game" would be like.

I'd like to first off seperate this blog into sections that go into some detail about the mechanics, story, ideas and concept for the game. Concept art is also included and other kind images will be referenced. So without further or do, let's begin.



!!!!THE INSPIRATIONS!!!

First off, we have this mood-board I created of mostly all of the inspirations I have for this game. Main inspirations (If you couldn't tell from the mood-board) are: Kirby, Wario Land 4, Klonoa and Sonic.

Some other inspirations are mostly just tiny things that I found in my childhood that I just.. like and that I mainly want in my game. I really like bit-crushed voices, enemy variations, clocks and time related stuff, etc. etc.


!!!!THE STORY (so far)!!!

The story isn't that much of a focus since it's a platformer, but I can share what I've created so far.


"You play as Lemur, a lemur who just wants to rest and live a calm peaceful life on the planet Lemur."

"Until suddenly, the God of Time shows up with a nefarious plan to destroy planet lemur."

"Lemur has been sent back into different time periods so they cannot interfere with its nefarious plans. Lemur has to then go back to the present, with the help of father time, to stop the God of Time from breaking the space time continuem!"

That's main story of the game and the goal for the player. I'd like to go into detail about the characters, setting, etc but I'd rather do that some other time.

!!!!THE MECHANICS!!!

The main mechanic of the game is: while reaching the end of a level, a device starts a timer and you need to run back from the end of the level to find a where the time rift was created. The time rift is very unstable and usually warps and distorts the world around you so you need to act fast and go through it. Father-time helps you find the time rift so you can go back to the present and defeat the God of time. If the timer runs out, you will be stuck in that time period forever.

Throughout the levels, you may find secrets and collectables that will help you form a special weapon that can defeat the God of Time and stop its tyranny

Lemur has a few abilities up their sleeve. His Tail-Grab can be used to grab enemies and either: A. Use them as a Double Jump to platform or B. Launch them into other enemies as a proyectile.

He also has his ability, "Burst" which works like this: At the corner of your screen you will see a meter that fills up while running. When the meter is full, you can press a button to BURST into "Mach II". Doing this again will make you go into "Mach III" which allows you to perform special abilities. Subsuquent bursts will give you small amounts of temporary speed but won't change you Mach state. Also they get harder to fill and require the player to avoid obstacles to maintain their "Mach III"

The clock changes expression depending on what action you're performing and what gimmick or ability you have, similar to Kirby Super Star's UI.

!!!!THE LEVEL CONCEPTS!!

Each level is set in a specific time period in Planet Lemur's history and I'll list them in order of appearance and a brief description:

  • Plastic Peninsula (Dystopian Future): An artificial beach made of pure junk and plastic that used to pollute the ocean. Level is filled with animals with trash in them or rubber trees that aren't real. Main gimick of the level is Underwater Sections and Falling coconuts.


  • Urban Underpass (1940s Noir esq City): Due to limiting funding, the city decided to appeal an agreement to build a giant bridge under their entire city due to insufficient funds. The bridge has been blocking the sun and making the town a night that lasts forever. Main gimmick of the level is Police chasing you and Climing up to the Rooftops.


  • Orange Oasis (Ancient Egypt): Due to changes in climate, the nearby deserts became rich in water and vegetation. This made ancient cultures flock the place and create plumbing and dams on it. Btw this is the water stage even though it's a desert. The main gimmick is Changins the water levels and going inside pipes that lead you inside the pyramids.


  • Granite Gulch (1800s Cowboy): During a hard expeditions, nearby miners found mountains that have engraved faces on them. In them, they found gold and jewels beyond their wildest dreams. They decided to harvest these caves until the mountain faces had enough and expelled lava from their insides. The gimmick of this level is Minecart sections and firey lava sections.


  • Arcadian Altitude (Ancient Japan): High up in the snowy peaks, near the natural hot springs, a civilization was thriving throughout the snowy peaks. Cherry wood trees and nearby animals inhabit the place. The gimmick of this level is 


  •  Freightage Freeway (Present): This is the final stage. It's all come up to this. A nearby airport facility that is currently sending materials to the main HQ of the God of Time. You must sneak your way and catch one final ride to defeat the God of Time. This levels gimmicks aren't really figured out but will be in the near future.

!!!!THE IDEAS (so far)!!

Most of this at this point is just random ideas that can't really be organized but I would like in the game.

  • Apart from the God of Time, there exists 3 other gods that serve as Boss Battles: Death, Life and the Light twins, which have all been corrupted by the God of Time to stop Lemur's escapades
  • The God of Time made an evil clone of Lemur that serves as Mini-bosses in between the levels
  • Cutscenes between levels show progress
  • World Map that is similar to Super Mario Wonder
  • A lapping feature for levels
  • Another playable character that uses a grappling hook
  • Death Mode where the God of Time chases you through the level
