Rather, this Nora person clearly does not understand what she needs. People's skin needs are different, but all the lip products I bought where I live worked just fine.
very possible but it's also very possible that products intentionally do more bad than good because money = good. i know exactly what my lips, skin, hair, etc need and have used products that claim to have what i need but don't work ^_^
unfortunately i am not going to argue about this but very commonly in america there are products with planned/built-in obsolescence. it means products [makeup, electronics, and the like] are meant to have a set lifespan or shelf life before it expires, goes obsolete, breaks, rots, etc. or they just intentionally may not work like the way they should so you keep buying! many chapsticks or lip balms here tend to dry your lips out after your lips fully absorb the balm so you're forced to reapply it ^^ just saying

It has nothing to do with capitalism. It's so lame to say that when the problem is marketing, corporate culture and the person's body and chemicals.
I'm pretty happy with most of the stuff I buy, so it's probably the product quality that varies from region to region.

It's very counterproductive and a bad strategy, especially when it comes to cosmetics.
But Nora can try other methods such as applying honey to the lips or aloe.
