I miss passion from art

No, I'm not saying no artists are passionate anymore. I'm not saying the people who view, listen to or read any art are all too dumb for art. Nor am I saying there is anything wrong with trends, eras. But when people turn types of art into trends, art that is genuine self-expression gets watered down in papers and inside media. I believe once you present your own art to someone, it is no longer only yours, as it will inevitably be interpreted differently by every single person who happens to perceive it. But I also think it's important to know an artist's perspective, and it should be the bare minimum to let that be known instead of spreading your own perspective as the truth. ix.vi.mmxxiv.

That's basically how gatekeeping sort of became a thing. People that appreciate it wants the material/art/artist to remain true to its root, intention, and persona.

When a certain community gatekeep something, it is oftentimes with respect and see themselves as the protector of the art, culture, and the legacy which is often bigger than just the artist itself. They simply wishes for the artist to be able to have freedom and authenticity with their arts.

Some things/artists are better left "undiscovered" to be able to stay true their original intention. Artistic value & authenticy of some things dies the moment it became a "trend", now suddenly the material is rendered into nothing more than a mere formula to appease the algorithms.

Now what once was a creative and brilliant mind turns into a puppet under the spotlight, forced to conform to whatever makes them relevant, forced to please the people that don't care enough about their visions in fear of having to start from 0 again.

This is why aspiring artists should realize that it is far more important to focus on growing a stable following that understands their artistic choices and visions rather than trying to make "the next big hit".
