It makes me sad to see how many people are pushed away from God because of misconceptions about Christianity. Things like hypocritical "Christians," misunderstandings about God's rules, and confusion over what He really wants can turn people away. I want to talk about these ideas and share a clearer picture of who God is and what He desires for us.
One of the hardest things for people to deal with when it comes to Christianity is encountering hypocritical 'Christians' those who say they follow Christ but don’t live like it. I completely understand why this can push people away. But it’s important to remember that no one is perfect, and even Christians fall short. Their failures, however, don’t represent who God is or what He calls us to be.
I also want to speak directly to those who have experienced religious trauma. If you've ever been judged, mistreated, or hurt by people in the church, I’m truly sorry. Please know that this isn’t a reflection of God’s heart. Sometimes people misinterpret His teachings and act in ways that don’t align with His love. It’s easy for things to get lost in translation, kind of like when you receive a text message that comes across differently than how it was intended. I hope you’ll understand that God is not like the people who may have hurt you His love and grace are constant, even when His people fall short.
Another common misunderstanding comes from God’s rules or teachings, which many people find difficult or confusing. It’s easy to see why some might feel like these rules are restrictive or harsh, but I believe there's a deeper reason behind them. God’s guidelines aren’t meant to limit us but to protect and guide us toward a life that’s fulfilling and meaningful.
Starting with the idea of Hell is a significant topic, and it's understandable why it raises questions about God's love. Many people wonder, "If God loves us so much, why would He send us to Hell?" This is a great question and one worth exploring.
The way I’ve come to understand it is that Hell is essentially a separation from God. God is all-powerful and all-loving, but He doesn’t want to force anyone to love Him. Cliffe Knechtle puts it well: “If you turn your back on God, if you turn your back on Christ, that is your decision. But God loves you with an unconditional love. He treasures you.”
Here’s the key point: God offers us a choice throughout our lives. We can choose to follow His ways or go our own way. Hell is not a place where God sends people out of anger or lack of love; rather, it's the result of our choice to live apart from Him. If we consistently choose a path away from God, then in the afterlife, God will honor that choice and fully separate Himself from us.
Another teaching that can be challenging is the judgment of sin. It’s important to remember that the Bible acknowledges our imperfection—God knows we will never be perfect on our own. However, through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can find the strength to overcome sin.
God doesn’t expect us to live without making mistakes. What He asks is that we strive to avoid sin as much as possible, and when we do fall short, we should turn to Him for help and forgiveness. He’s always there to support us in getting back on track.
This ties into how we enter heaven. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus is the only way to salvation. As it says in John 14:6, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” It’s not about being perfect or relying on good works alone. Salvation comes through accepting Jesus into your heart and relying on His grace.
So, while the judgment of sin might seem harsh, it’s more about recognizing our need for God’s grace and understanding that Jesus is the pathway to salvation. God’s desire is for us to turn to Him and accept His help, rather than relying on our own imperfect efforts.
After addressing some of the tougher teachings, it’s important to shift focus to the heart of Christianity: who God is and what He truly desires for us. Understanding God’s nature and His intentions for our lives.God is not just a set of rules or judgments; He is a loving, compassionate Father who desires a genuine relationship with us.
That's all its long but if you did read it thank you!! And if you have any questions please do ask me and I'll be sure to answer them. Also do be aware I am human so I tried my best to explain these things the way God would but of course I'm not him. Another thing to add is to look in my shoes if I truly believe God is real and I truly care for everyone I'm only trying to spread his word with love because I want people to experience the peace I have experience only though him! I say this because I know a lot of people say "don't push religion onto people". I love you and most of all God loves you have a blessed and beautiful day!૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა

I like this explanation on the concept of Hell! I wish it was more common.

Absolutely beautiful post, you wrote it all wonderfully. Thank you for sharing this, I know a lot of people need to hear this. It breaks my heart how many people misunderstand Christianity and are lead astray from it from misconceptions and falsehoods.
