Touhou 东方栖霞园 ~ Blue devil in the Belvedere - Normal 1cc

I enjoy Touhou quite a bit even if i need to be in a particular 'mood' for it-- its often a great series to come back to inbetween of other arcade shmups as a pallet cleanser of sorts.

Blue Devil In The Belvedere is a fan-made Touhou game and a high quality one at that, in fact, i would argue that is the best Touhou game i have ever played even if its just a fan game.

I am not entirely sure how exactly all the mechanics work and i don't think i entirely need to understand them for this difficulty level. Perhaps its more vital on Hard or Lunatic mode or even for scoring. What i have gathered is that the game seems to play like any other Touhou with the exception of picking up these floating pyramids with numbers on them. These increase your "Power Overwhelming" meter so that when you are a hit, it triggers you into a high powered state and subsequent hits in this state use up bombs, giving you a safety net.

You get i think 4 extends total. One before stage 3, another during stage 5 (or 6?) and then 2 score extends. Combined with extra bombs here and there and you have plenty of resources to make it through. Stage 4 boss really fucked me up for awhile as well as the final boss.

Aside from that, its Touhou. You have your Shot, your slow Focused Shot and your Bombs. 6 Stages, with the last stage being shorter and focused more on a long two-stage final boss. This clear took about 2 or 3 weeks of practice on and off. I had issues recording the replay so i just clipped the live version from my stream last night. All in all though, fantastic game, and i highly recommmend it to anyone interested in bullet hell (its also cheap and on sale on steam right now uwu)

I think i am done with Touhou for the time being until next time. As much as i enjoy them, the runs are so long. 45 min is a LONG time to be focused and not make mistakes. I'll stick to games that take 25-30 min to clear
