Here's my precious doggy ROO!
I love her so much, i just felt like i need to put a post up on my profile, shes a great dane!! and shes the runt of her litter so shes a little smaller than a normal great, i'd say shes the same size as a lab (mid-size) but when shes on her back legs shes taller than me and im 5'8!
The story of how we got her is a little fun and complicated.. when my family moved from Oregon to New Jersey we didn't bring all of our stuff with us, the important stuff came with us in our car when we left, the rest was put in a storage unit that we said we'd come back for when the time was right. That was in early 2017, when covid19 came around we felt the house was very empty without a pet, we had a few family dog's when we were younger but most of rememberance was jack russel named Spot! we had to let him go and gave him to our grandparents who stayed in Oregon.
After covid19, around early 2021 my parents remembered the storage unit and realized we were finacially stable enough to go back and get our stuff so we weren't charged for the space anymore. Me and my sisters both mentioned we wanted a dog again, and after yapping about one to our dad who caved in, he managed to get my mom on board.
My mom surfed websites and realized a dog would be cheaper in Oregon, so after searching she found a breeder (i would adopt from a shelter now) that had a pack of great dane puppies!! we got in contact around late Febuary of 2021 and confirmed we would adopt in April.
she was born febuary 21st 2021 (02/21/2021)
With all of our stuff still in oregon, me and my mom decided to take the trip together to get all of our stuff and drive back with the puppy and our belongings. and that we did.
When we went to pick her up, her mom & dad were in the backyard, 2 Big great danes, one black and another brown with dark brown and white spots and both of them were way bigger than what Roo is now. when we first saw Roo, she was this tiny stumbling puppy that only stayed around the legs of the breeder. she had these huge puppy paws, floppy ears bigger than her head, and soft rolls of skin around her face lol.
the beginning of the drive home was a bit rough, she started teething, and got too attached to the breeder, she wouldnt stop crying the first few hours, no matter how much we tried to get the scent of the other puppies on her blanket. After day 1 it was easier, we found ways to get her to play in the moving truck, a water bottle, some random plastic chicken toy, and some crinkling blanket thing.
After we got home it got easier and she got bigger.
I love my dog so much I wouldn't trade her for anything else. Shes very smart, almost too smart for her own good as a dog, she's good with trained commands, other dogs, and she dosen't get into trash or countertops like she used to, and when shes feeling playful she gets the zoomies and is very vocal! lol she likes to talk back sometimes its funny.
i wrote so much about my dog i gotta show pics now, i can't seem to find any recent pictures, or a good picture to show her fully grown size but these will do :D
I LOVE MY DOGGO !1!!!!
