Ah the Toyota 86. The trim that was available in GT7 for this car to be possible in game was the GR trim. With its 2 door body, and its presence in Need For Speed 2015 as copy paste of the beginner car, aka its triplet sibling the Subaru BRZ, I just felt that this car was perfect for getting the vibes of NFS 2015. I always thought that game was probably the best middle ground of newer (at the time) cars and older ones, probably due in fact to the heavy emphasis on drifting, and I always found it interesting how front and center the BRZ/86/FRS chasis was in that game. Now, with that being said, Need For Speed has a history of debuting upcoming cars into their latest game, with most recent example prior to 2015 was the R35 GTR in Prostreet, which came out in 2007 (If I remember correctly idk I'm lazy like that.)
Going back to the topic at hand before I went on my little tangent, the 86 I used in the photoshoot, I wanted to join together the old and new styles together, and so thats why I went with the decision on the tribal livery. I wanted something that popped loudly even in a night setting, and because of that the original intention was to go with a highlighter yellow with green decals, but I realized it looked awful once I had the livery put together in the in game editor. This was especially apparent when I put the white rims on the car to get that classic tuner gone modern look that was so heavily prevelant throughout Need For Speed 2015. In the end, a more golden-ish yellow sat better with red tribal decals accompanied by white outlines to match said decals. To complete what Id like to call the "Need for Speed look" as I like to call it, I used a decal from the game as a windshield banner and a license plate that embraced the nature that I had intended for the car. I gave the car a slidey tune that allowed it to be a fun car to slide around the corners and one that allowed it to still grip when needed to.
Overall, as my first custom car to bring to life in GT7 and do a photoshoot for, I was very pleased with the results. I think I might do a redo of the shoot once it hits one year.
Here's a link to the 86 below.
The 86 in question.
