Black Dahlia Case

The Black Dahlia case is one of the most famous unsolved murders in American history. It involves the brutal killing of Elizabeth Short, a 22-year-old aspiring actress. On January 15, 1947, her body was discovered in a vacant lot in Los Angeles.

The scene was shocking: Elizabeth's body was found completely severed at the waist and drained of blood, giving her skin a pale appearance. Her face had been cut from the corners of her mouth up to her ears, creating a gruesome "Glasgow smile." Her body was posed with her hands above her head, and her legs spread apart. There were cuts and bruises all over her body, suggesting she had been tortured before her death.

Elizabeth Short was nicknamed the "Black Dahlia" by the press, inspired by her dark hair, black clothing, and possibly the movie The Blue Dahlia, which was popular at the time. The case captivated the nation due to the gruesome details and remains unsolved, with many theories but no confirmed killer.
