million dollar question
this song is DEFINITELY before the depression hit
i think this song radiates teenager energy, or carelessness for your responsibilities. especially because of these lines vv
Was always waiting for the crush
The car to drive right through the shops
To call in sick and late at work
And take a holiday
also this song is FUN!!! the first/end part is meant to be rock-like and carefree! radiohead wasn't trying to be the big genius emotional masterminds like in amnesiac or kid a, they were just young adults.
this song feels like growing up in a big city >_< (this place is gassed by fear)
i also this song sings about not being understood or "needed" in one place, like he could just leave and nobody would care.
I'm not sure what the "million dollar question" is, but the only question in the whole song is
then what are we doing here?
so...you know...reminds me of creep, sadly. but i think this song does a much better job of speaking about "blah, blah i dont belong in this place, i dont want to get a job, nobody would care if i left...except you maybe!"
the middle section is also very sweet, and that's one of the cute things about earlier radiohead is the dreamy "ballad" type of energy that some songs had (india rubber, blowout, ripcord, high and dry)
anyway! in conclusion, i like this song. obviously it's not the best song ever but it's a nice song. it's fun, and thats all that matters :3
inside my head
guitar in this song is peak (guitar solo type thing)
thom rolling around onstage clip
thoms vocals?? omg!
What do you want from me?
Now you got me
Now my fingers bleed
Now they're staring at me
i think this song also relates to just being mocked or made fun of in general too, a person on songmeanings.com said it could relate to thom practicing guitar until his fingers bleed/people staring at him and putting pressure on him...but that meanings really sad :c
my preferred meaning of this song is that he has a lover who's tormenting him on purpose and he wont stop thinking about her she's infected him completely (what have you put in that syringe??) maybe that line means that she' s like a disease!!
also what have you really said to him? either means thom is trying to figure out if she's cheating/she's unloyal or he's been infected with this 'disease' so bad that he's become completely obsessed and jealous of every man she interacts with.
And you bother me
You possess me
You're there again
Ahead of me
And I won't let go
HOMEBOY IS OBSESSED!!!! ^^^
Now you tie me up to your feather bed
And I twist and turn in a chinese burn
You won't let go (freaky)
in conclusion this song is freaky and i love the whole bands work on this song. its very impressive for like the second thing they ever put out on spotify. i don't think it should've been put on pablo honey or anything but i LOVE THIS SONG!! you're inside my heeeeeaaaaaadddd lallallalalallalalalalaLALALA!!!
yes i am
i love the drums in this song! the chords give a kind of special vibe to the song that's really nice.
also some people bash thom's voice in earlier recordings and thats just mean :( like he sounds fine lay off!! he sounds emotionally charged in this song and it's really interesting to hear. he sounds almost betrayed or something
the intro might put me off a bit, but once the drums kick in it immediately becomes one of those "cute" radiohead songs. the thing that seperates radiohead from other bands (atleast for me) is that special feeling. it's like adoration, almost! even if this songs about resenting someone.
I think I've been here before
Yes I've been here before
But this time I kick
Down your door
i also love how thom sounds in this ^ part, very matter-of-fact and snarky :3
I think I've told you once
I think I needed advice
You were such a help
That's very nice
this part too ^ "thats very nice "
"yes i am" is definitely just a reassuring statement to himself (thom). to what...? im not very sure
this song pairs with inside my head in the fact it's a mix of hatred and obsessive love, imo. i think this song is almost like the aftermath of inside my head, like he's trying to get over it and move on. hes convincing himself he doesnt need *her* and he IS his own person. YES I AM!!
but...he's also saying "yes i am wary" so..hm. he's trying to convince himself, but maybe a part of him doesn't mean what he's saying and he's too scared to face her.
I resent that I don't have a choice speaks for that thought i think. at the end of the song, he says he'll kick down the door that was previously locked at the beginning of the song. maybe it means a breakup? idk!
i like this song!! it's cute and groovy. i resent you colin >_<
