For the past 4 months, I’ve been trying to moderate my social media usage. Prior to this, I would spend up 7 hours a day scrolling through TikTok videos. One week, I totaled 49 hours on my phone, with 15 of those hours spent consuming nothing but TikTok videos. I realized I needed a change, so I decided to limit my phone usage. I would come home from work, place my phone in the kitchen, and not interact with it. Occasionally, I would allow myself 30 minutes to scroll before stopping. Eventually, I reached a tipping point and decided to delete the app altogether. I was already frustrated with TikTok, especially with the lack of media literacy, the constant negativity, hatred, and drama. Despite this, I struggled to delete the app. What finally pushed me to do it was a binge session where I ended up scrolling for 16 hours straight. That experience made me realize I needed to take action. Now, a week after deleting TikTok, I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I feel freer than ever.
It's been a week since I deleted TikTok

Same thing here. Deleted my Tiktok account about two weeks ago and I'm so happy for making that decision. 99% of the shit was actually just rotting my brain
Trying to lessen some other social medias too now and find a good balance. We'll see how I do :-]

yeah man, i deleted it a few months ago, no regret. i have no urge to get it back at all. i also deleted twitter off my phone and only use it on my laptop for a few minutes but i find it very boring. only thing that sucks? i have no clue what new lingo people are using or what the fuck theyre talking about... like what the fuck is with the uprise of the word 'demure'????

I stopped caring about what is trending and what the new lingo is. At the end of the day they're all trends that won't last, so I'm not going to waste my energy trying to keep up with it. I'm really glad someone made the same decision as I did. It's incredibly difficult to just delete the app since it's become part of the cultural zeitgeist.

absolutely. as silly as it might sound deleting that app set me on a path of discovery and growth. my head is much clearer, i appreciate more and i can truly slow down now. you never realise how much our society revolves around tik tok and it becomes strange to see it from an outside perspective, like youre watching some kind of social experiment

The inability to disconnect is a very real and difficult challenge that many cannot do.
