09/02/2024 - Aliens 3 review

Hello!

Today I did quite a bit of driving, got through some more of ace attorney, watched alien 3, and listened to some new music!

Discussing my day to day life can get a little bit bland as I generally have a very similar routine day to day, I get up, clean my room, brush my teeth, do the dishes, then get into the meat of my day where its basically free time until I find something productive to do. Often this can have me feeling half fulfilled where I'm wasting time, especially when I'm not working to a larger goal. I am trying to find a job, but its hard when nobody seems keen to reply to me... overall its just been hard to feel fulfilled when my attempts at progressing into adult life keep failing. I have my drivers test coming up September 11th. I feel somewhat confident, hopefully it goes well and I'll have my license soon.

Besides that though Ace attorney has been really fun, ridiculous but fun. you really play the part of detective, defense AND prosecution haha  as you not only have to prove who didn't do it, but also who did. More VN than game really, but that's ok, and honestly more of to its benefit, I'll be curious to see if the next game is different or not. Obviously I will drop a review.. probably with spoilers... when I finish.

As for aliens 3? I  give it an appropriate 2.3/5 The sets are super fun to look at, the alien is back to being a calculated killer (though maybe less so than the first movie). The cast, similar to last time, falls short slightly on the great characterization as there is too many people to get acquainted with all of them. This is one of my least liked aspects of the 1st and 2nd movies, especially when compared with the first. The strength of the cast in the first movie was how fleshed out they were, they felt like real people, the second kept that for a few characters, and the last movie loses it almost all together. Newt dying in the first few seconds led to the last movie feeling somewhat pointless. The doctor is never fully trusted.. I dont know, it just feels like the interesting character aspect is lost in exchange for a cool alien chase scene. The alien is stop motion animated for a lot of this one? this leads to a cooler looking alien and smoother animation, but also a LOT of chroma key issues throughout the movie. So yeah, overall, the characters are kinda lame, the set is REALLY good, the ending is wack.
