hiya friends ! ˙✧˖°🤘🦊 ༘ ⋆。˚
today the long-awaited award ceremony for the art competition I entered into a while ago was held ! it was lovely to not only see my dear friends & art teacher there, but all of the other contestants too c: I'm very thankful that both of my parents were able to attend (something which has been exceedingly rare in my life), & even moreso surprised that they were so proud of me. why is that, you ask?
I won runner-up in my age category ! (which is especially impressive considering that I don't take art as a subject ...) the prize included a $50 voucher to a local art supplies store, & I'm very excited to pop in someday soon & check out everything on offer.
of course, here's the long-awaited photo of the art piece ! (for unfamiliar eyes, it's a pied currawong depicted in the japanese sumi-e style. my two favourite things in the world !)
I feel so fondly for how wonderfully this soft & fluffy currawong turned out ! when the exhibition ends, I'll buy it a nice little frame & hang it up somewhere in my room. actually, that's a little sad to think about- the currawongs will soon migrate up back into the mountains. it was great to hang out with them again this winter !
I wanted to keep this post short & sweet, so I'll wrap it up here. thank you all for stopping by to check it out, & being patient as we waited for the award ceremony. it's lovely to see you again, & I hope that you're all doing well (..◜ᴗ◝..)

Cute! Well done, getting runner-up is amazing! Was there a theme you had to follow?
the theme was 'you're the voice'- I approached it from the angle of 'the currawong, as a bird who only comes down from the mountains in winter, is the voice of the australian bushland (& reminds us of the importance of living in flow with nature)'- though sadly we didn't actually get to leave artist comments, or I'd have been able to explain my thinking with a little more articulation ...
