Hey SpaceSleepers (85): Maimai at the Arcade

For those who are unaware (as I was several months back), Maimai is a rhythm game developed by SEGA that bears an extreme likeness to washing machines (to the point that it was a running joke in promo material) that integrates both the touchscreen and eight buttons on the outer frame of the screen. The gameplay has the notes come in from the center that goes to the eight directions like other rhythm games but their swipe function is more unique, opting for pressing one of the frame buttons and sliding across the touchscreen instead. They were brought internationally to Taiwan and Hong Kong first before being released in China and, later, the United States.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it here but my friend got me an Aime card to save my progress to an account at the arcade so I really look forward to whenever I can go to hangout there. I really appreciate him meeting me at the arcade because I have been feeling a bit under the weather for a while emotionally, especially with the wreckage that is my sleep schedule. The line for the game today was actually pretty relaxed today considering the new update came out last week. I played with one of the master players and they were very nice to me, which surprised me because they always felt a bit unnerving due to their high skill in comparison to me. I hope to go more often alone so that I can improve my hand-eye coordination for Maimai!  It's really fun honestly (09/01/2024).
